Alex Karras passed away yesterday (Oct. 10, 2012) Although mostly known as an All-Pro lineman for the Detroit Lions and his TV work, most notably as George Papadapolis in the sitcom "Webster," he did some nice film work. He was terrific as Mongo in "Blazing Saddles" and he was great as the gay bodyguard Squash in "Victor/Victoria."

As the resident Mel Brooks expert, I knew about his role in Blazing Saddles. Didn't realize that was him in Victor/Victoria. Apparently a better actor than I knew. RIP
