misc If something doesn't go as planned on set, does the DP have the right to get tough at the director?

does the DP have the right to get tough at the director? If so and why?
I'm not sure what you mean by "get tough."

The director does not report to the DP so the latter can't tell the former what to do.
If there's an issue that they can't resolve between themselves, it would be the producer's responsibility to solve the problem.
