If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of B-movie Actor

Hello everyone. I typically wouldn't sport a book here, but I think many of you would not only enjoy it, but would learn quite a bit. This is Bruce Campbell's autobiography about his career as an actor, including many of his early experiences with Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spiderman).

It's a great read, and goes in-depth on Bruce and Sam's micro-budget to low-budget filmmaking experiences.

This book has a TON of valueable information for indie filmmakers on how they made EVIL DEAD, including the connections with an attorney (producer Rob Tapert's father) and the whole asking Dentists to invest thing.

GREAT BOOK. Good recommendation.

I read it recently. The book is very informative and helpful in some ways, however it is not a tips and tricks book. He talks a lot about the Evil Dead movies. There are a few useful camera and special effects tricks in that part. There is a lot of information about acting in the film and TV business.
I think it's a good read for beginning filmmakers and actors. As far as tips and tricks go, I learned more from "How To Make An Action Movie For $99" and Robert Rodriguez's book "Rebel Without a Crew". I also learn a lot watching Film Riot as well as a variety of YouTube video making tutorials.

Ya, you're right. It's not a tips and tricks book. But there is a ton of insight into films, the process, selling films, making special effects, building camera rigs, agents...the list goes on and on. He touches on a lot.

It's very entertaining.
