How to make infinite black space effect?

Hey guys,

I need to pull off an infinite black space effect, like the one from Stranger things when Eleven connects with the minds of others, im not sure if its green screen or an actual black space? how would they track her movement with light? and what if I needed to add neon signs in there?

this is a sample of what im talking about, potential spoiler for anyone who hasnt seen the series yet.

That was shot on a stage. Looks to me like the floor is painted black and the
walls are duvetyne. Light doesn't reflect well off that fabric. You need a large space
to get that look. Difficult to do in an apartment/flat but with some creativity it
can be done. A good sized living room would work. A garage is even better.

The great thing about the camera is you can "fool" it by adjusting the aperture.
So you can hang neon signs in the space and still not see the background. Lighting
something like that is surprisingly easy.

What Rik says.
If the ceiling is high enough (like a stage or studio) you can hang 'skirts' around your lights, making them very directional to the floor, so the don't spill to the walls.
