lighting How to light a BLUE scene

I'm shooting a film for a director who wants a room lit as if a blue light hanging from the ceiling is the only light source in the room. Without buying blue lights to test them, I'm trying to determine if a few 90 watt blue lights can even possibly give me enough light, or if I'm better off lighting with the white lights I already have and adjusting the lights to blue in after effects. If after effects is the way to go, do I need additional plug-ins or is this even feasible?

I will end up adding a red giant film look after the piece is complete so I know I need a decent amount of light in order to not lose details to shadows after I apply.

what you want is called a 'gel'

they're thin plastic sheets and they come in different tints.
so you want a blue gel. put that over your normal bright lights.

^This. I would say use gels as best as possible and then make necessary adjustments in color grading. Gels can knock down exposure though so make sure you have a bright enough light.
