How can I get this idea to work for my story?

In my script, the villains want to screw over two people in a sex tape scandal. They want ruin their credibility, which will get them out of their political jobs, so to speak.

However, in order to force two people to have sex at gunpoint (or to fake it), they would have to kidnap the two people and force them to do it in front of the camera. However, they would then have to take the footage and cut out the parts where it shows them forcing the couple with guns. They could only show the sex only.

Now if the sex tape scandal went to court, would a judge believe they were actually having sex on the tape, if parts where cut out conveniently? Could the victims argue that men with guns cut out the beginning and end of the video in order to erase themselves from it? Plus the judge would be wondering that if two people were having sex, and their political careers were on the line because of it, why would they tape it? It doesn't make any sense to tape it. So how do you get a sex scandal to work if:

A. Why would you tape yourself having sex and ruin your career?

and B. Why would parts of the video be suspiciously cut out, unless it was criminals erasing their actions? The video has to be found in the camera, next to the bed, in order for the plot to work, so why would they edit it still in camera. Can this idea for a story make sense or be believable?

How can I get this idea to work for my story?

Hire a writer to develop the idea. You're looking too deep into the problem, you're starting to see monsters in the shadows where they don't exist. You don't seem to have a sense of writing.

Instead of trying to pave over what you recognize to be gigantic plot holes, perhaps consider stepping back to the drawing board on the issue and coming up with something that you're happier with.

The twist is that the lady's nether-bits are named "justice." They were being thoroughly obstructed.

The premise seems incredibly convoluted, to be completely honest. Some criminals force a sex tape at gunpoint, leaving zero evidence of their existence and/or just don't get reported as having committed a crime, all for the purpose of trying to frame someone as "obstructing justice"? Why not just kill them, or get actual dirt on them, or something that makes more sense...

Well if they kill them, than that is a murder the criminals then have on their hands and therefore more problems to deal with, if any evidence is found. Framing them for a crime comitted by both of themselves, leaves the real crooks out of it, and the police will only look to the two people in the video. As far as getting dirt on them, they do not have any dirt since the two are upstanding in their careers and have no dirt. Basically I need the two characters to be forced into appearing to have sex on video, to be seen by the media, because it leads to an anatomical twist that needs to be dealt with that carries the rest of the story.

But I think I may have thought of a way to have it make sense. The crooks will just move the camera around and pretend to be the couple behind the camera, and then they can edit voice overs of them talking from before, to fool the media. This way they can make it look like the recording was legitimate and not a weirdly edited scam, per say.

Issues like that - political figures sleeping with someone other than their significant others - is usually handled by the media.

And, as far as I can put it all together, there's no way that the video would ever be convincing in any way, shape or form no matter what was done to it. There's always enough metadata buried somewhere in the media to indicate whether the footage was altered or not. And what are they going to do, force feed him Viagra?

I would think that a honey trap would be much more believable. They dangle a gorgeous girl in front of your male (presumably married) protagonist, a good-looking compassionate guy in front of your female (also presumably married) protagonist. Then the plot twists can emerge - one of the dangles falls for their assignment or has a change of heart, one or both of the protagonists doesn't take the bait, the hidden cameras don't work, one of the dangles is really an undercover cop, or any of a few dozen other twists.

However, what you really need to do is start from square one; you want to ruin political figures. Even rumors and innuendo have ruined careers with no proof/evidence whatsoever. On the flip side, look how forgiving/forgetful the general public is; how many public figures have been "forgiven" their trysts and other gaffes? Why does it have to be a sex scandal? Why not hire a hacker who plants evidence of corruption of some kind (altered bank records, phone logs, media posts)? Why not kill them outright?

This one needs a rethink..........

I am not sure how the villains are going to do this. This is the one part of my script I put on hold, and wrote the rest out, and now I have come back to it. It has to be a being framed to having sex though cause it leads to other twists that cannot happen unless the framing is sex particularly.

I actually thought of the premise and climax and most of the rest of the story first, and came up with this part last, in order to fit into the rest, to build into the third act I wanted. The sex tape framing does not come until the midpoint of the second act, but by then I already thought up my premise, and the best ending I could come up with to serve that premise. Now I have to build into the ending. But I cannot think of any other way for things to come together in the script than this way.

I can write so that the they video is made with no audio switched on, in it's originality. That will solve a lot of issues. And the villains will just have to be behind the camera as it's being moved, pretending to be the the man and woman they are framing making it look like they were operating the camera the whole time. I think it can work if I write out their whole strategy is how to they do it that, very specifically.

Okay thanks. Haven't seen The Shield, but know of it. Actually I took Alcove's advice and rethought the plot. I showed the treatment to my friends before writing the script, and they thought that the forced sex tape was a neat turn of events. However, when I actually started writing the script after the treatment, it becomes convoluted when you get into more details.

The forced sex does not need to be on tape. The characters still need to be forced by the villains into having it, but in order for the last half of the story to go the way it has to, but it does not have to be taped. The character careers could be ruined by rumors instead of a tape, as long as people buy the rumors as possible. The villains motive for forcing two people to have sex will have to be changed, since they are not taping it. Perhaps they are just real sinister SOBs, and force them out of amusement?

Why not have look a likes on low quality tape having sex. .. maybe the people setting it up have done enough research to know that the politicians will have unimpressive alibis fit wear they were at that time. Also I agree to keep the courts out of it.

I don't think I can keep the courts out of it. The two people who are forced to have sex on tape are a prosecutor and a defense attorney. A man is on trial for kidnapping and attempted murder. Other villains in the story do not want their plan exposed, so they develop a plan to force the prosecutor and defense attorney to have sex on tape, in order create obstruction of justice in the case and cause the evidence to be believed to contaminated therefore.

Is it possible to do leave the courts out of that, if that were to happen, and since the case is already in court anyway because of prior kidnapping charges?

If you really want to use this scene, wouldn't it make sense for the gunman to threaten them, then make them have sex, and THEN pull out a camera without them seeing and film it? Or on a mobile phone and the video is sent from the phone to a media association?

To be honest though, the whole idea seems faulty. If the camera is left, they'd spot it. How would it constitute 'obstruction of justice'? And then there is the issue the men here may have thought of - would you really be able to 'get in the mood' with a gun pointed at you?

That's true. Thanks. What if I wrote so that the crooks forced the guy to wear a cockring, then they give him an erection with a penis pump, and the rings holds the blood in, causing him to stay erect?

Would this be convincing to the audience so that they would believe a sex video, if the crooks were forcing them?

Wow, that sounds grim. Penis pumps notwithstanding (Swedish made, or not) the entire premise seems very complicated. Perhaps if we had the whole story (who, what, when, why, where) we could come up with a better premise?
