First you will contact the Screen Actors Guild to
get the agents name. Then you will look up the
agents contact info. Then you will make the phone
call to the agent to offer the actor a job.
The agent is going to ask you who else is signed,
when your project shoots, where your project shoots
and how much you are offering. Be fully prepared to
answer these four questions before talking about the
project.
A few more things to think about before making the
call:
Be prepared to cover the agents fee - on a low budget
project you won't be paying the actors full quite so don't
expect them to take their agents fee from their wages.
Be prepared do cover all transportation, lodging and per
diem. That ads quite a bit to what you are currently
thinking of paying.
Many times an agent isn't willing to put their client in a
low budget film in which they are the only "name" - even
if their client isn't "big" name. Be prepared to really pitch
the hell out of your project and the part you want their
client to play. It is essential that the agent sees your
project as a great opportunity for their client - not as a
great opportunity for YOU to work with someone you admire
from TV or movies.
