Hi

Just wanted to say hello from the UK. Looking to take nervous steps into real projects after having a far too passive interest for years (a couple of projects in my teens having stalled due to too much alcohol, probably)... and hoping to connect with crew/technical people/other creatives who might be into some stuff that would be 'for the love' short-term and Who Knows longer term...

My experience is almost zero on the practical level, although we're looking to shoot some short promo videos for a Website in the near future, which is a start! (The embryo of a showreel if nothing else.) I'm more in the writing/developing end though I'd like to take a shot at directing too. I'm averagely competent with Sony Vegas though my elderly computer protests... main interest is horror genre. (Not Twilight type stuff, tho!)

Welcome Grasshopper!
I'm one of the audio guys here.
Always remember:

Your project will only look as good as it sounds, because

Thanks! I'll lay this out here -- I'm looking to crowdfund a pilot episode of what I'd hope (in an ideal world) would lead to a five-part television series. My feeling is that making a standalone pilot independently -- and doing it well -- carries a whole lot more weight than languishing on a slush pile. I know who I want to play the two lead roles -- moderately known actors over here in the UK... I have a first episode script written but am working on a pilot ep that is 'similar but different' right now. What I need to do is finish script and assemble a crew before approaching the two leads. If the pitch appeals to them, IndieGoGo here we come! But getting there is the hurdle right now. Not sure which section of this forum is best for posting about this in more detail. But anyhow, that's the basic idea.

You should read up on some relevant recent threads, concerning what ducks to have in a row before approaching name actors.

:secret:
Having money in place beforehand is one of those ducks.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks. I can see the logic in that... I must find the time to read more extensively. There are things though, I feel can only be done effectively re crowdfunding, if people were attached -- in particular although it needs to be as economical as possible I don't want it to be absolute shoestring material. Also the attachment would draw in *way* more publicity. Hmmm. This might be a Catch22. Incidentally they are not real big names and I have reason to believe at least one of them (perhaps both) has a supportive interest in indie ventures. Sorry for rambling -- I plan to post more detail elsewhere sometime soon but other stuff is bogging me down...
