I've never actually introduced myself to any actual filmmakers before. So... hi.
I'm here from Birmingham, Alabama. I worked on an animated short from 2006-2008 (wrote, voiced, animated--EVERYTHING from scratch. Rebecca Giselle is my pen name for that book series.) and sent it off to Venice 08 and Sundance 09. Originally it was supposed to go to Sundance 08 but my computer blew up and I had to basically re-do 300 frames of movie and couldn't get it in by submission time. DX (I had a lot of trouble getting this movie made.) It was well-recieved but due to so many submissions I didn't get in.
Oh well. I have my own IMDB page from it, though.
I'm blathering about this because this is the only movie I have to my credit at this point. After that I enrolled in film school and haven't really had time to do anything besides write scripts ever since. (I'm focusing on screenwriting.) I'm trying to get representation at the moment but that's going about as well as you can imagine. Haven't really entered any screenwriting competition as of yet, but I plan to.
I'm thinking about starting my own film project again, this time a live-action one and I was going to use some form of crowdfunding to source it. (probably indiegogo.com, since I've heard better things about it than I have kickstarter.) However, I know nothing about launching one of these campaigns successfully and I found this board through a myriad of google searches. I thought this might be a good place to ask about people's experiences with that since... hey, well, it's a film board!
But that post will come later... this was just my introduction. I'm here to hang out and get to know some of the other people in the indie film community. I've never really reached out before. Do ya'll bite? Guess I'll find out.
