Hello!

I've been dabbling in filmmaking for about four years now - my first short film featured Werner Herzog! The film was done for the McMurdo (Antarctica) film festival, 2006.

I have recently decided that I like it well enough to put forth more time and effort. About five months ago I found myself in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and so outside my regular job I am producing a series for the web entitled "What Up, Kaohsiung?" that aims to explore the art, culture and everyday people of Taiwan's second largest city. After making a couple of attempts that I wasn't extremely pleased with, I decided to hire a hostess to do "man-on-the-street" type interviews. A couple of episodes in to that and I'm now pretty pleased with the format that the series has fallen into and now I'm going to run with it.

One of the biggest challenges I'm facing is the translation/transcription aspect of the work flow. Most of the interviews are in Chinese and I can't speak the language well enough to understand much, if any, of the dialog so I can't even make any cuts or select 'b' roll material until the main interviews are translated.

Anyhow, that's me. Looking forward to learning more
