Hello, Sean from Scarborough here

Hello, I'm Sean from Scarborough. Joined this forum because I really struggle at networking. I have an undergraduate degree in film and television production, and a postgraduate degree in screenwriting, but I have not been able to use either for a job within my chosen industry.

I basically just want to get better at talking to people and establishing meaningful connections. I have tried LinkedIn but a lot of industry people on there hide behind the Premium paywall, which is annoying.

I am autistic, and I think that's a major reason why the communication side lets me down compared to other people.

My hope is to one day break into the industry; I have made a few short films during my university studies and I completed a short in 2019 called "Sean's World TV - Hunting Nessie: Gone Wrong", which was essentially a no-budget found footage horror film, but when COVID hit, it made me more of a recluse. I do want to get back out there though and make a few more things that I can show off and use to land a commission from a production company.

Welcome, and this is a good place to network. Are you referring to Scarborough Ontario, Canada or some other Scarborough? I'm Canadian.
Nah, would love to go to Canada one day as it looks beautiful but I'm from the UK. I live in the Scarborough located in North Yorkshire. It's a small seaside town: https://www.britannica.com/place/Scarborough-England

We're mostly a quiet town, but we've gained more fame lately due to major Hollywood stars like Johnny Depp and Will Smith being signed for the Open Air Theatre we have here, which is the largest in Europe.
