Have we done everything we can to promote our film?

Hi everybody,

I've decided to start this tread so that we can bounce a few ideas around making sure that we haven't missed any avenues promotion wise. We have just finished a feature "Brash Young Turks" and at the moment we have been doing all the promotion ourselves. We're almost finished the post side of things but before going to distributors we wanted to create some buzz around the film.

This is what we've done so far:-

Set up a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BrashYoungTurksMovie?ref=hl

Put the trailer on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx9lwWRsC9c

Set up twitter: https://twitter.com/BrashYoungTurks

We have our film on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1996200/

We have also been sending out all emails to our contacts and the cast and crew have done so also.

We are doing this side of things with no budget so all the ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to hearing you responses

Naeem

Where's your big social media presence? Have you asked media, bloggers to talk your film up?
Thanks for the reply GuerrillaAngel. As i'm not experiance in the promo side of things could you please explain to me how i go about asking media, bloggers to talk our film up? Thanks in advance.

You contact them directly and ask if they'll review your film, many won't but they might mention it and if they do, squeeze every mile you can out of it. Meanwhile, a blog that you update several times a week with film-related tidbits and SHARE the story on FB/twitter.tumblr is vital to building an audience. You've got to put your film's name in front of people regularly without making it look like spam -- don't ask them to buy or donate -- just talk it up. Give this up, and your film dies. Marketing is just as time consuming as the creation of a film. Search "marketing" here and you'll find a lot of good stuff.

Your trailer looks really good, btw. Love the colours.

Yeah, I'm surprised that there's been no promotion done on this. A quick Bing/Google search brings up dry-as-bones facts about the film; mostly names of the actors. Get to work! :)

why is your film called brash young turks? I'm hoping it has something to do with turks...
A young turk is a young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations. And this film follows the routes that young people take in life and the impact those routes have on there futures.

Glad you like the trailer!
I realise the promotion side of things are lacking but we're working on collabrating with some people who have more time and knowledge on PR. I've been doing the majority of the marketing as much as i can while also dealing with the post production, and we all know how time consuming that can be! If you have any ideas of ways I could improve the points you've mention or if indeed you'd be willing to give us a hand that would be great.
