On this day, in 1901, Marlene Dietrich was born. She was a glamorous actress, but, after she became an American, she donated large sums to aid Jewish refugees and, during the war, entertained troops on the front lines. She said that she fought fascism because it was the right thing to do. Thank you, Marlene, for inspiring us.
