watch guidelinefilm's "Voice In Me" -- teaser 1

guidelinefilm's "Voice In Me" -- 2nd teaser-trailer

Hey there....guidelinefilm here

I introduced myself a couple of days ago in this fine forum. Just check out the "welcome"-section or simply go to http://guidelinefilm.blogspot.com/.

So this is it: Our pioneer called "Voice In Me". The story of poor sap Vincent.

Plot: 16 yo Vincent is home alone with his sister in their parents house. It's the night of the "Great Storm". While both are sound asleep a burglar creeps through the house. As Vincent suddenly wakes up because of a lightning striking nearby, he loses orientation. From his paralysed state he believes to have noticed some commotion downstairs. He is certain he was awakened not by the storm but by something else. Because of the power breakdown in the house he picks up a flashlight and begins to search. What Vincent doesn't realize: His blackout lasted way longer then only a split second.
The following day meets Vincent with unpleasant events and leads to a horrifying awareness. Is he awake...or still dreaming? What did really happen, back in that night? How can he work this out and get his old life back? ..

A VOICE in his head, that follows him throughout, whispers bitter nothings and leads him all the way back to the night of the "Great Storm" ....

Sort of cheesy I guess...but it's all homemade and original!

We shot with an 06 model of the Sony Cybershot digital camera. So that's nano-budget I'd say.
The (not yet) finished piece will be approx. 40 min long.

Enough said: Here are some prod. stills and a teaser. Enjoy!

Come on man!! Anything will do...I know it's simple stuff but we put a lot of heart into it!

Cheers from Bavaria,

Andreas

It's a tough crowd on this forum. I like your opening tracking shot. I also like the lighting in the last clip. i'd really like to know more about what this film is. So i guess as far as teasers go it works well. as it teases me.
anyway I'm Matt and I'm a director/Writer. I'm on my second low budget feature film.

Gee Matt....thanks for your comment!

I just checked out some of your prod stills and they're awesome! I guess we're both Deadites only that I like the shots behind the cabin, in the dark woods better :) "Voice In Me" has more of the Hitchcock-moments in it, I guess...but that's cool.

If you like my stuff, go check out my blog http://guidelinefilm.blogspot.com/ ...it says more than I could here! Don't hesitate to ask questions, Matt!

If there's video of your films online, let me know...couldn't find anything yet.

Cheers

I did have a question. What camera did you use for this project?
Also here are some links to my stuff
There is a trailer for Bone cave on vimeo

Here are some behind the scenes video podcasts as well.

It’s short, but like it.

Have you tried it with the title after the knife?

I want to say with the title at the end it would be like Knife + Voice in me = Uh Oh!, but it's hard to say without actually seeing it.

To me that “typed in” style title (at the bottom too) is visual distraction against the motion and story unfolding of the shot.

-Thanks-

Hey Matt....

Thanks for the links! I liked them a lot...I've got to watch the trailer a couple of more times. The bonecast was fun to watch! Andrew looks and acts like a blend between Knoxville and Campbell ...funny guy. It's amazing how much effort you guys put into the bone cave project.

Maybe I get so see the whole thing some time. How did you raise the dough, I'm wondering...and how much are we talking...if you don't mind me asking..."Voice" is far from that anyway...it cost appr. 300 bucks.

The camera we shot with was this:

Keep it up

Buddy....

Great you like it...make sure to check out the first one too!

I guess you're right. The title at in the end would be better. I did that in the first one...the second teaser was supposed to be set in kind of the opposite mood... It's very calm and you don't see the face of the guy...but you get an idea what he's up to in the end.

Again, great you dug it, Buddy!

Cheers

The film cost 3,000 us dollars. It was a combo of a friend giving me some money and the rest was funded with my tax return. I've got a lot of my own camera gear, so i used stuff i had around to make the bonecasts. Andrew is quite a character. I on the other hand a'm a little more shy and reserved so to speak. I basically have been running a free web campaign through podcasts and such to get it out there. We started this film in September and it wont be done til August.
I'm likewise impressed with your films. I'm amazed at the quality that you achieved from using a cybershot. It's a good camera don't get me wrong, but i'm trying to get used to the idea of using cameras like that for my own films. i know i should as they are amazing tools. You have used it well. Keep me posted on your films as well.

I'm not big on trailers because you really can't review it, nor do they give enough information (usually). I see enough trailers from watching television. So you will rarely ever see me critic them or even look at them. In fact, the MODs on this board should set up a thread in this section for trailers only (hint, hint Indietalk). But you were lucky, I did take a look and I will admit that I will watch it in the future once it is completed (or at least a sequence of the film). I'm glad to see that you are using creative lighting and the sound seemed good thus far. So repost when done.

As for the still shots, I really dig that make up artist and she can work on my set any day. ;)

Matt...

Thanks a lot for the info and your insights! I would have guessed bone cave cost more than 3 grand, though.
Yeah ..as I mentioned in the welcome-section, I did start out with Super 8 and wasted a lot of stock back then. I had to go with the cybershot because I didn't know whether I was able to tell a story or not...some people find my stuff interesting and entertaining to watch as it turns out and my fellow filmmakers had fun doing their jobs too....so....next time I'll try to gather some money somehow to get better gear.

I must say though....that I truly believe that one can tell an intriguing story, even with the crapiest gear...the best stories I've heard in my life were told by friends with only a flashlight in their hands and the lights turned off.
That's where I want to go....

wridingrlm...

thanks for your honest comment. I appreciate it...as being online for only a couple of months, I learned quickly that it's hard to be recognized and that the competition is fierce! ...Nothing changes after all!

Thanks again guys and stay tuned...

(so you have more comments too :) )

I liked the second teaser you posted more, the lighting and camera move were cooler. But didn't say much.
How did tou shoot that pan?

The other one I like a lot the use of light and smoke effects. As a trailer/teaser it doesn't say much. The use of the sentence "the vioce in ME, is coming to get YOU" sounds a bit funny/silly.

Let's see if you can get the final product soon!

backlash...thanks for your comment on my stuff!

From bottom to top: The "coming to get..."- thing is supposed to be kind of 80's style...I like the films from back then very much and I'm trying to incorporate some of that flavor.

Super you like the effects and the lighting...the shoot was as gruesome as it looks! Nights and nights. We did some forced perspective things and a couple of models too...I mean miniatures ;) ..All that stuff from the 80's. I like that a lot and I think it's already comming back ("...to get us").

Are you referring to the pan from the closeup of the guy to the hatchet on the wall? ...As far as I recall, this was pretty much a oner. I guess the face was approx. in the same spot as the hatchet...that definitely made it easier to pull off.

Thanks man...and check out my blog http://guidelinefilm.blogspot.com/ if you like.

Guide,
Thanks for the kind words. I agree that gear is not the sole selling factor in a film. Ingenuity is often a much better route. Hope things work out well. Again keep me posted on the film. I'd also be curious to see more stills from the shoot.
thanks

Hey Matt...

Matt...

I've got a couple of more stills but I'm currently having some issues with my harddrive. Also the first trailer that I proposed for this weekend I couldn't finish because of that. But I'll have that ready and online as soon as possible. Probably the second week of June.

Here are two more photographs I got right now:

First act...approx. 5min into the story

Hope you like 'em!
