Greek noob wants to go pro!

hi from Greece fellas! i'm Nikki and i'm a musician. i love all kinds of arts and i would love to explore the science of film making. i have way too much inspiration and i don't know how to express it. in the beginning i wanted to make some comics, but later i decided that i wanted to see them taking life and "move", so i began thinking about animations and/or normal films with normal actors. i have some old screenplays, some scenarios, 2 "universes" in my mind and countless ideas in general, all waiting to come out. i would like to have total control over my films, like be behind/in front of the camera, having written the story and the dialogues, etc. can someone pls show me the way? (maybe online lessons for directing, what kind of camera and hardware in general i will need, video editing software, which people i should talk with, etc.) thank you for your time my friends! :D

If you want to be in front of the camera you're going to need people you can trust behind it.. if you want total control without anyone else having input you're probably going to need $ to pay them

the only thing i'm bad at is directing because simply i haven't studied it. (i wanna finish directing but online or something, any help with that?) i wouldn't mind working with a director, i could extract important knowledge from him and also telling him how i want things and him correcting me. :)

what about equipment like cameras and knowledge about video editing? any forums or something about these? and let's assume i'm ready to start my work, to whom must i talk to? (directors, producers, or what) thx once again and i'm sorry if i'm a bit hasty. cheerz! :)

My favorite book on editing is Grammar of the Film Language. Although the book itself is a bit sexist I thought the knowledge and layout was great.

There are tons of aspects about film making.. lighting, editing, framing, grip, shots with motion, color, sound, etc. Plenty of online resources for free, I know chimpphobiafilms once posted like 25 links at once for free resources. If you search around you can probably find it. Or maybe you'll get lucky and he'll post here.

To whom you must talk to depends entirely on the script. If you have a script with just one person (you) in a location that's readily accessible.. You will only need one or two other people. Camera and Sound. Depending on the setup it's possible for one person to do both of those, but it will limit your choices, unless you use something like a wireless lav instead of a boom mic.

Typically the more people the better to help you out with a film.. such as if you're filming outside it helps to have someone holding a bounce for lighting, to help fill in shadows.

Go read, read and read more.

It sounds like you want to learn everything. This is fine, though it'll take you a long time to get to that point.

Have fun with the journey.

The best piece of advice I can offer you: Don't expect to be spoon fed.
