Good Cheap Shotgun Microphone for the Canon Rebel T2i

I am looking for a good shotgun mic for under $200.00 - $300 but I can't find one that works good with the Canon Rebel T2i. Any suggestions?

I suspect the reason you can't find one is because they don't exist.
A good shotgun mic isn't available for under $100. I, too, checked
and didn't find one.

The T21 has a 3.5mm stereo jack and the audio recorded by the
camera is quite poor. You can look into the Rode VideoMic which
isn't bad and not to far out of your range. The Sennheiser MKE 400
is about double what you can pay, but worth a look. It's a fine mic.

Any mic with a 3.5mm jack will work with the T2i. If you can't find
a mic with that jack you can buy an adaptor.

1. Good and cheap are mutually exclusive.

2. Are you planning on mounting the mic to the camera? If yes, a shotgun mic may not be the best choice.

3. The sound of DSLR cameras, even with products like Magic Lantern, is horrendous. Reason? Crappy pre-amps.

4. There is no way to monitor audio on a DSLR.

I'm not a big fan of this particular mic, but here goes:

It's newest sibling is a much better product and aimed at the DSLR market.
