watch Full web series - The Art of War (complete)

Just to take a momentary break from work, I'm posting my series, "The Art of War"

It's a short web series that shows off the amazing work of underground "real time" artists.

It's pretty cool, check it out. (all footage and music cleared)

If you enjoy the videos, leave a comment, so they don't get buried overnight.

Seriously?

20 well produced episodes, and not one comment? Buried forever after 1 hour?

I've seen 1 minute cell phone videos of 2 guys on a park bench get 40 comments on this form.

No one is interested in CGI, or underground art?

I've only watched the first two so far. The first I wasn't all that crazy about; I appreciate the cool CG but it didn't really grab me. That said, the second was fantastic! I'm planning on watching the rest as I take breaks throughout the day, I'll let you know what I think as I go. Kinda digesting them, so I'm sure I'll have more detailed "what I like/didn't like" later. But definitely amazing work!

Okay, watched the 3rd and 4th. Really loved the music on the third, and again the visuals are amazing. There were a couple places I thought the edit could have been a little better synched to the music (but that might just be youtube being funky, as it sometimes does). The fourth is really hypnotic and fun to watch. More restrained than some of the previous ones. I'm liking each episode more than the previous, which is a good thing!

I agree with M1chae1 with the Mind's Eye comparisons. When I was younger, I loved those videos, but they weren't really something I sat down to watch, but would put on in the background while I was doing something else.

Really impressive CG. It's a lot of fun, and you're clearly talented. It's like the video Beyond the Mind's Eye...you can watch and daze off and let the video be your guiding light (thank you enigma).

I don't think they are that relevant to film though. There is no story, no arc...it just seems like a spray of imagination. Which is all fine and good, some art-house films are like that too, but they are live action, this is all CG so it's harder to relate. Nice motions graphics all around. Good reels there.

And I know what you mean about quality videos getting little to no response, and a cell phone movie gets 5 pages...that's the way it is. For a lot of reasons I'd rather not get into.

Good stuff.

Thanks Micheal,

I should clarify (said above but from a response on another thread I'm thinking it didn't take)

Though I made these videos, edited them, wrote songs for them, did the intro and outros, etc. The middle content in each video is not mine. This series was built by striking a deal with an organization that holds international talent competitions for RT CGI animators. People who create film by writing mathematical code directly to GPU. Technically speaking, they are probably the smartest group of filmmakers in the world.

Starting with about 7000 contestants, these videos show off just the top 1% of that competition, the global champions of the screens most difficult artform. So what you are seeing here is the best of the best, 40 different teams at the top of their game winning an international contest.

Yeah, I do find it strange that this would be ignored completely. Art film may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I don't think it should just vanish before the few that might be interested can even see it. That seems to be what happens to almost all higher production value videos on this site. Phil UK made a really great one the other day, and I cant even find it anymore.

No one is offending me by not watching this stuff, it's a matter of taste. Just saying, I see people skipping 40 world champions to focus on people goofing off. I suspect Micheal is right, and I don't even want to know why that is.

You've uploaded 100 min of content and expected feedback within 60.

I think you'll find over the course of the next month you'll receive comments.

I watched the first few minutes of the first five but didn't finish any of them. Excellent CGI but I don't find the art house existential vibe very entertaining.
