Hello to everyone on in Indietalk,

Yes.

Look at the other option: you do not make any movies at all until
you can afford a better camera. What would you rather do? Shoot
a few projects and learn as you go, or wait and shoot nothing?

Yes i agree, however with the Camera only shooting (720) and having poor night time lightning.
Could i tinker with the settings Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere to improve the lighting issue?

Yes I just started Film School (online) they are sending me the (Westcott uLite 3 Light kit )
So you're on your way.

More important than lighting is going to be audio. The main issue you
will face using the mic on any camera - even the Sony FS100 - capturing
clean audio tracks. When making music videos this isn't an issue. To get
good audio you will need a mic on a boom pole. And since you cannot
attach a mic to the Flip you will need a separate audio recorder.

But for now, you can shoot music videos with your current camera and
light kit. I look forward to seeing your work!

What on-line film school did you just start?

Full Sail University (Digital Cinematography)

What do they tell you about camera choice?

Do they suggest you shoot with what you have or to wait until
you have a Full 1080p Cam?

In my 10th month of the course they will be sending me the Sony NEX FS100. So i guess ill use what i have to make teaser films and a little short film until i have the right equipment to further my projects

I think if you could make something on a flip video than you could do anything. In truth, I bet if you put enough planning into it with lighting/sound/editing and all no one would know you used a flip camera.

Yes i agree, however with shooting a quick racing teaser video, i dont have access to the necessary equipment such as stabilizers, dolly's etc...im still in the planning out stages as to how i want it to turn out

You do need any of those things. They are nice to have, but not
necessary.

What I see here on the boards is too many beginners holding back
because they do not yet have all the "right" equipment. I never
even saw a dolly until I had been making films for 8 years. I used
a skateboard and a wheelchair. When I got started the Steadicam
had not even been invented - I learned to get smooth shots hand
held.

I know, I know, I'm that old guy you just ignore - "When I was
your age..." - but it kind of bothers me to hear beginners holding
back because they don't have the necessary equipment. When I
was your age I made films using what I had and never for one second
slowed down because I didn't the necessary equipment.

I just don't quite understand why anyone today; with so much
available for so little money, is not making a short film every month.
I envy you.
