First paid job...

Hey all,

Been here a few years learning about film and tomorrow I'm meeting up with someone who wants to pay me to film a holiday advert for him. He said we'll go over payment when we meet so I can decide whether its for me. Travel and accommodation is paid for there.

As a student, how much do you think is the right pay bracket for me? The shoot is 3 - 4 hours long. I'm completely unsure and don't want my pants pulled down.

I know this is probably a stupid question haha.

Thanks

Josh

It depends upon how much work you have to do. Are you just running the camera or are you running the whole production? Actual shooting time is the least time consuming part of a production.

You can go the time and materials option.. $50 and hour plus expenses.
I do a flat rate shooting day of $300 and $50 an hour for editing\VFX. I end up billing fewer hours for editing then I actually spend on the job, mostly, because Im always trying something new and don't feel right about billing for my learning time!.
