First AC / Focus Puller

I need to make friends with a first AC or a focus puller. Where do these people live? I want to be best friends with somebody like that. Where do I meet these people? Somebody help me find them.

Are you looking to hire someone? Are you looking for BFF? Are you looking for a date?

haha!!... All three are accurate. I'll pay the first AC, for my project in September. But in the meantime, I've got 4 to 6 short skits planned, where I will try different camera techniques before my shoot in September. I was involved in a short film last summer where I discovered that focus pulling was the bane of my existence. So this time, I want to make sure I can work with somebody before the shoot.

I will be this person's BFF.
I will go out on a date.
I will pay for this person's time (indie budget of course - $100 per day. Does this amount sound reasonable?)

I would start by hiring a qualified person. Then after the shoot is over
invite that person out for a beer or a coffee. But it kind of sounds like
you want to be BFF before you hire. I have no idea how to make that
happen...

$100/day is low but reasonable for an AC.

I think you're right. So maybe I should hire this person for my shorts, and figure out if s/he is right for the bigger shoot. become BFFs later...

thanks :)
