Finding actresses who will go nude in a conservative town...

I live in a very conservative town and I want to shoot a short which will require 3 women to go nude (waist up) for a few seconds at a time, nothing extreme. I'm not too far from Palm Beach or Orlando but I need 3 attractive women in their late thirties/early forties. I doubt I'll be able to find anyone where I live. The only place I can think of is looking for nude models for art at the museum?

Any ideas on where to look??? I'm really stumped on this one...

I worked on an indie slasher film in which the director managed to find an actress to get stabbed from the back through the chest while having sex. Topless of course... I would imagine that is a rather rare find.

Another suggesiton is to go to acting studios / training centres and ask the instructors if you can have a few minutes of their time to talk about the role and what it requires and see if anyone is interested in auditioning. You could send them the script in advance.

You might be able to post an audition sheet on campus somewhere...but I don't think an acting instructor is going to network your film during class...especially one that requires nudity. It just doesn't seem right...

:)

You can also do a search on Myspace or Facebook for actors in your area. Check out their profile...if they are 'edgy', or you think they will approve of the material, then make the proposition, or send them the audition info.

Yes, but can they act? :)

Yes you will find some that can act... this is not a stripper site. It is for all types of models, actors/actresses and entertainers seeking work. I have hired a lot of outstanding people from this site. This is a no BS site. The people listed usually have references and work feedback right on there portfolio page... If you are serious about finding someone... this is the place.... Anything else is just probably wasting your time. Another very good agency site I use is modelmayhem.com check them out as well.

Cool. Yes, model mayhem is a choice as well. But let's remember...models are models. A lot of them can't act, I mean no disrespect. It is a rarity to find someone that can do both well. There is a difference between acting...and acting well. Quality productions take the time needed to fill a role.

If you need your boobs to have acting chops...it's going to be much more difficult. If you just need boobs...you have many options.

On the flip side, being the Devil's advocate...

Treating it like you're sorry, and being apologetic may lessen your credibility--it may come across as desperate. And no body wants to make a nude appearance in film that lacks confidence. Instead, treating it with professionalism, confidence, and tact may yield better results.

Just my two cents.

The sorry part is for using a matchmaking site (ie: dating) to try and find actors for a film. They went on the site to find a date, and you're asking them something that they didn't ask for.

Other than that, when talking about the film project, professionalism is the way to go.

Ahh, gotcha. :) Still though you know what I mean...any film that is having troubles casting a girl to do a nude scene, and resorts to sneaky methods to find talent...well...lol. You get my drift.

It's not a huge deal...don't get me wrong. Sometimes indie filmmakers have to jump through hoops other productions don't have to...I guess whatever gets'er done.

Yes, but this is an INDIE forum. Indie films don't pay--for the most part. So that's a moot point actually.
And that’s what I’m talking about. INDIE films.

I wouldn't say talented actors are 'often open to doing nude scenes' ever...whether the story is great and the production is fabulous
I respect that. But in my experience I’ve found many talented
actors willing to do nude scenes and I’ve never paid an actor
100k to do a topless scene. Your experience is quite different
than mine.

Hearing from other parts of the country it seems outside of Los
Angeles you filmmaker can’t find talented actors who will do nude
scenes. Here in Los Angeles I never have that problem.

Last year I shot a low budget horror film in Florida and we held
open auditions for several roles. We found two actors who where
quite good and were willing to do nude scenes. For very little money.
So my one experience in Florida is the same as all my experiences
here in Los Angeles.

I’ve found several talented actors using One Model Place.

Well yes, indie...and I know LA is different than other places (they sometimes actually pay their cast and crew), but most other places don't pay on an indie budget...especially if the budget of the entire picture is under 25K. Some of the more important cast and crew may get a few hundred dollars...but that's a rarity. For most truly low-budget films...no one gets paid--at least not outside of LA.

I can see how Florida (along with LA) would yield different results than other parts of the country. I mean...in those places women walk around in bikinis all hours of the day. It is the land of 'look at my hot body'...I can see how the percentage of finding a quality actress willing to bare all is probably higher.

You can also put ads at mandy.com and nycastings.com for free.

When I was looking for talent, I had people submitting from all over the world, and I put there was no pay. If there's an actress in FL they will probably respond. Just be sure to put that nudity is required.

Are you kidding me... South Florida is loaded with models who will do artistic nude. Go to www.onemodelplace.com and search till your heart is content. I use the site a lot when doing projects that require nudity. This should help you and good luck.
Ciao,
Tommy

So that's two good reviews for OneModelPlace from Tommy and myself!

My warning is this: unless you ALREADY KNOW a woman who happens to be a stripper, then I'd assume working with a stranger/stripper is a BIG RISK:
1. They're perhaps even flakier and less dependable PERSONALLY than "actress" wanna-be's and may not show up when you need them, de-railing your whole shoot ...
2. They get offered "movies" all the time by "creeps with cameras" ... and 99% of the time that's a come-on to make a stupid porn video. So unless they KNOW YOU already (and that you're sincere as a filmmaker) they're neither impressed nor flattered ...
3. They can be sincere, and have stardom in their dreams, and they're STILL romantically involved with a maniac for a boyfriend, and he will give either her or you unhappiness out of jealousy ...

There is a huge psychological difference between nude models and standing up on a stage and getting naked or lap-dancing strangers. One may indeed have an artist/actor's psychology ... the other may well turn out to be a broken person who is a big problem to pin your film's success upon. So ... I warn against using a stripper unless it's for the most basic of "show us your hooters" flash-the-camera scene.

All of that is mere GENERALIZATION, obviously.

I knew (well, I knew a girl who knew them) several EX-strippers who I would've trusted to show up and shoot a good scene.
Of those FOUR ... one had a boyfriend who killed a guy. (She in fact was in my video, and years later I met the sister of the guy her boyfriend killed. I never mentioned I knew her, Talk about having a topic you never want to come up!)
One was the sweetest girl you'd want (though so weak-willed or needy she got seduced by a girl who looked like an English Bulldog). But now she's a dental assistant and her life's wonderful!
One I tried to use once, but she called and warned me that her boyfriend was giving her too much BS so she apologized and backed out (but with plenty of warning, fair warning).
One just moved and no one knows where. (Which in itself would be a good movie project for her to be in, unless she's buried out in a cornfield somewhere. We speak of burning dead dinosaurs as oil and gas in our cars ... but no one thinks about the strippers who may be in their Ethanol)
And I'd suggest EX-strippers are more together than current strippers.

OMP.com ... That's my advice. Like Tommy said, in South Florida you should have NO PROBLEM.

Yes Soul...they are ex-TREEM-ly flaky. Strippers I mean. For all the reason you mentioned.

We had one recently get so excited...so freaking excited about being in our next feature. She totally was all about it. Guess what? The day before shooting, she has her manager call and tell us she decided to drop out.

Why? Who freakin knows. But I'll tell you what, it happens all the time. Always have a few backup boobs ready to go. You'll probably have to use them.

Well, if you need another impartial judge on strippers acting abilities, ok fine, I'll volunteer to be a judge, all in the name of good cinema of course...... ;) Having spent some time in the Army, I've seen my fair share of strippers, so i'm a self proclaimed expert on stripperology.

We don't audition strippers, we just use thier boobie-reel. OK, that was bad.

To be honest, we don't cast strippers with dialog in mind. In fact, we haven't cast a stripper in years...we found a few friends willing to help out whenever we need 'them.'
