Fake hits and young kids

Hey, I have came up with an idea and there's some aspects of it that I don't know how to do. So one, I have to have it start with my 5 year old neighboor getting shot. I have asked him to just show me what he would do and it didn't look so good. What can I do so he can do a realistic fall. Second is for the second scene in it, I have to kill my dad with a metal bar. Now I've never done any faking action things like this and I don't want to screw it up. What do I do to get a realistic fake hit without hurting him?

You don't have to actually "show" what you're showing.

Between clever edits & audio cues, you can sell the illusion of something happening. Take the shower scene from Psycho, for example. There's not one shot of an actual knife stabbing, but it's one of the most well-known murders in cinema history.

You can do the same with your required scenes. Break the shots up so you have various components separated - and shoot those.

techniques used:

Acting in slow mo. The contact hits the kids were acting in SLOW MO so slowing it down more looked good..
Long lens Stunt. Using the compression of a telephoto lens to hide the distance between he punch and the face.
Flying back on office chair.
