Custom Weapon/Film Props

Hello, everybody!

We're in pre-production for our sci-fi/action film, The Legend of Cooley Moon, and I'm wondering where people obtain their realistic weapon props such as machetes, axes, clubs, etc. I was thinking maybe LARP weapons but I've never seen them on film so I'm not sure how they'd look. I'm willing to pay (obviously) for quality! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Brett

Often either made, found on e-bay, or found via specific sites you can get to through using a search engine. Making them yourself is often the better choice, because they're generally exactly how you want them to be by the end, with buying them being more expensive most of the time but obviously more preferred if the prop you need is of something either technically unachievable by yourself or if it's based on something real, such as the model of a gun.

Swords/Knives - http://www.nightmarefactory.com/weapons.html
Various Props - http://www.propstore.com/

Thanks a lot for all the options! I've actually been to most of those sites. I have them bookmarked since I'm sure they will come in handy down the line for various projects. The western gun props is one that I always end up coming back to (and Ebay of course). Anim8, I will keep you in mind if there is anything that I end up needing! Thanks for the offer.

Any ideas for Canadians? Some items are hard to get, such as gun replicas that are more modern than muskets. I posted elsewhere about this but might as well throw a word or two on this thread as well!
I am specifically looking for a machine gun.
Thanks!

You could probably get some airsoft guns. Have a look on Ebay, i believe they would ship to canada. (If i live in New Zealand, and they ship here, why not Canada which is practically next door?)

But other wise, i did a little searching online and here's a canadian website. https://www.buyairsoft.ca/

toy guns look real if you spraypaint them black, otherwise, you can get machetes an axes from specialty stores, headshops, sometimes kid's comic book stores sell crazy realistic weapon replicas.
