Couple of questions...monitor,lenses...

Hi everyone, I am about to invest in a HDSLR setup and have a few doubts.
After doing some research I have decided to get the following 3 lenses as a beginners set,

Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8

I know I should get some primes , but when I need them to shoot something serious I will mostly rent lenses.
The lenses above are just so that I can get up and running when I need to.

Questions :
* Are there cheaper alternatives out there , like Nikon old lenses with no AF (I dont need AF really) or other options?
* Also I am not able to find a cheap HD monitor !!

Hey Wheatgrinder , thanks man , completely forgot about the Lilliput monitors which seem allright for the price I guess. A good preview and focusing ability is what I am looking for. The Marshall monitors , advocated by Phil Bloom , do have the peaking feature , but pricey...I think I am going to rent out some equipment before I buy...for now its going to be the cheaper option I think...
