Could Sam Neill played the Joker?

Was watching Jurassic Park the other night on AMC and noticed a few of his maneurisims? Seems to me like he could've played a convinving Joker up there with Heath. Maybe not better but could've been convincing.

He does have a very Cheshire smile. And he was pretty creepy in "Possession."
