Copyrighted issues about posters?

Basically im kinda sure there was another thread about that but I couldn't find it so..sorry.

I am working on a 10 minute short film and my main character is a young make up artist. She is making make up for films .
I want to have bunch of posters from the good old classic Spielberg films.I guess this is like using Hans Zimmer score.I mean it's 100% illegal .

Or are there any different laws about it ?

It's definitely something you'd want to avoid.

Do you know any local filmmakers who've made posters for their films? You could ask to use theirs, if the posers were any good. You could probably rustle up some posters from indie filmmakers anywhere, these days.

Okay, let's be clear on some terms. It is not "illegal" in the sense that you
will be arrested or even fined. You may be violating copyright but not in the
same way when you copy a music score. For a short film where the posters
will be used as posters (their intended use) you will likely not face copyright
infringement. Even festivals do not reject movies that show product as the
product is intended to be used. For general release the rights will need to be
cleared, but for a short film I see no "legal" issue. The only thing the studios
that own the copyright on those posted may do is tell you to stop showing
the movie - but, seriously, that's not likely to happen.
