Commercial Shoot Stills (HUGE IMGS)

Pretty good footage out of my GH2 using a FD 50mm.
Full size stills from the 24p footage. Using Natural image profile.

Nice framing and set decoration. The warmth in the second image gives it a sort-of vintage feel. But I gotta say, I like the first image better.

What's the project? Is Poptent having a Christmas contest?

Thanks Nate! Lighting is key.. (is that a pun?)

The cam is at IS0 400, with the lens stopped down to about 2.8. The lens goes as open as 1.4, but I wanted SOME ability to actually focus.

Key light is a window to screen left, but it so gloomy out that I had to reinforce the sun with a 500W photo flood (CTB) fill is provided by a 500w softbox (again CTB)

The bit of "yellow" far left and the yellow Christmas lights is the result of uncorrected tungsten lights when WB camera to sunlight. Im proud to say it IS on purpose and I knew it would look all golden buttery..... I finally fully internalized the whole White Balance concept..

Ill be reshooting this today, might ad some haze.. Im going for morning look, not evening.. ideas?

Yeah, Me too, the uncorrected looks more film like.. I still MAY go a vintage look though, as that might serve the purpose of the spot..

Cant comment on poptent here.. no biggie, but Iv been asked to remove some threads in the past, so Ill just keep it to a minimum..

poptent.net broad sourcing content creation. Check it out, I know for CERTAIN that at least two IT people have gotten big checks from them (me and papertwinproductions) others too I think..

I had reset my camera to default just priot to this shoot. (somehow I managed to resign a button and could not get the WB button to work, still dont know what that was about but oh well) doing so lost all my custom tweaks to the profiles, so I dont rightly know what the defaults are but what ever they are, thats what I used..

Thers a bit of the Magic Bullet in this last frame too.

Interesting, so likely all the tweak values were set to 0. I have a whole slew of iterations of those values for day exterior, but I have yet to cut them into any sort of useful comparison.

Very impressed with how little noise you are getting at 400 iso. IIRC you're working with stock firmware, yes?

Technicals aside, great shots. You do really amazing PD for your stuff, makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks for the compliment.

Yes stock firmware. There was plenty of light, I wasn't pushing ISO 400 becuase the image was dim, youd think it wouldn't matter, I mean 400 is 400 right. But turning up the ISO in a well lit shot has a different impact when it comes to noise.. just my anecdotal observation ..

PD on this shot is all my wife. I setup the shot, she got out the decorations and filled in the frame. Having the framed displayed on the 21" computer monitor helped.

Congrats on figuring out the whole light color + camera thing... it's kind of a pain to make that mental leap - but once made, it becomes a bit second nature... that control and the expectation that I'll be adding gels to lights is why I've only run at daylight and tungsten presets for the past 4 years or so.
