Casting question

I would like to cast a certain musician for a remake of a musical. How do I hire a Casting Director or contact the musician's agent?

Also, what are the steps I should take before approaching a Casting Director or the artist's agent?

Welcome to indietalk.

First things first; are you offering a paid job or are you hoping
this musician will come aboard to help you get financing?

Are you asking how to hire a Casting Director or how to find one?
Typically you can find the musician's agent by using Google – type
in the musicians name and the words “contact info” or “agent”.

the celebrities are hard to get ahold of but the agents are are in a different league.

one time I talked to daniel tosh's agent just to ask when he was coming to my area.. and he was the #1 in demand stand up comedian like 6 months later

The musician is Janelle Monae. We are in the infancy stage of planning. We would like to enlist her to help with financing the musical via Kickstarter. I'm meeting with an attorney to discuss the rights to the remake.

In that case you do not need to hire a CD. You're not ready for that
step. When you have the rights then you can start using a CD.

So you need Ms. Monae to help you raise funds through Kickstarter?
So she will be a partner in this project – an essential partner. You
are not offer her a job you are asking her to partner with you as a
key element in getting funding.

Ms. Monae is with Paradigm. Her agent is Marty Diamond.

You need to make a compelling case that YOU are the only person
who can bring this project to fruition. At this point you are not in a
strong place. If you approach the artists agent without owning the
rights and they love the idea, they can move forward faster than
you can. You should already own the rights before you contact the
artist's agent.

Good luck! I love the idea. I hope you keep us informed on your
progress. Pulling off something like this will be amazing and very
inspiring.
