Camera Choice

My parents already have a pretty good video camera from Best Buy

I wanted to know if this is a good choice for documentary movies.

Any camera you have is a good choice for documentary
movies. That one is fine. You should start using it for
your documentary right away.

In the meantime you should check six or seven of the
"which camera" threads in this section, the "Cameras
and Lenses" section and the "Newbies" section for more
advice on cameras. The biggest drawback with that camera
is it doesn't have a mic input so you will either have to
use the on camera mic (look at this

get a mic and separate audio recorder.

But don't let that slow you down. The worst thing you can
do is wait until you have the best equipment. start work
on your documentary right away with the camera you have.
