books?

What books do you guys recommend i buy to get started?

Mostly i'm asking this because i want to know if "The guerrilla filmmakers blueprint/handbook" is worth it?

If there are any other books i should know about please post em.

Thank you

Re: Books

The Screenwriters Bible by David Trottier, and Elements of Style for Screenwriters by Paul Argentini, both available from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk.

Independent Feature Film Production
A complete guide from concept through distribution
by Gregory Goodell

Best book on filmmaking I've ever read, and it really does cover almost everything but the conversations you'll have with your agent/entertainment lawyer ;)

St. Martin's Press
ISBN 0-312-18117-5

Good Luck!

I agree with WideShot,

Gregory Goodell's book is the best book on teh market. I have read most of them and Goodell's is the only one not full of fluff.

For those of you doing actual production work, John Lee's Business handbook is also excellent. Cheers.

I also recommend SCREENWRITERS BIBLE by Trottier. But the ELEMENTS OF STLYE FOR SCREENWRITERS - I threw that away. I thought some of the guidlines in that book were pathetic, the problem is, I cant remember what they were. But I remember thinking, what the hell is this crap?
