editing Blue Screen Problem

hi there.

I'm having a bit of blue screen problem here. We filmed with a blue screen out in the grass, we didnt think the grass infront of the blue screen would cause any trouble, but as you can see from this picture it does

I used the keylight plugin in AE.

I'd rather not rotoscope the thing, so if you got any other suggestions, please

Play with the matte-choke option. Pretty sure that's the name, but I don't have AEFX loaded at the moment.

Or apply a second chroma-key, this time choosing the problem shade with colour-pick tool. (Try this first)

Btw, another common goof with keying screens are glass objects. Someone drinking from a bottle, or a glass vase on a table, & similar. Not that you have that problem; just something for next time. :)

I’m not positive, but I think a second instance of Keylight (or Color Key) will likely just pull that color out of the uniform too.

Can you:

1. Make a copy of the footage
2. Mask the solider
3. Flip the copy of the footage upside down
4. Place the soldier over the upside down copy?

-Thanks-

This might be really small, but I guess you can get the idea. (It can be done with Keylight, Key Color and masking. -Not the same approach as my previous one, but both in AE.)

On the 2nd one yes, and feathered the edges out as you can tell.
One thing you might try is to change the color of your blue screen in AE so that it's not as close to the Blue/Green (The uniform), but I'm not sure if it will still leave a "glow" around the soldier.

-Thanks-
