archived-videos Any constructive criticism on my two recent music vids?

Hey all, it's Peter here. I'm new to the site but I'm glad that I found it! So here are two music videos I did for my friends. They are all shot on a Canon T2i with the kit lens. I used Sony Vegas, After Effects, and Magic Bullet to color grade. Please keep in mind that both of these videos were on a zero budget. "Wired" was made first and "Whatchu Tryna Prove" was finished last week. Thanks again and I am open to all kinds of advice to help me improve :)

EDIT: Sorry, I don't exactly know how to work the embedding on this forum :( Posted direct links instead.

This band is bad\good fantastically sloppy garage metal that sounds pretty freaking awesome. I like em!

Cool setting.

The drum hits were off in the edit, it really stands out in the first break 0:28.. fix that in post. all in all it was an interesting thing.. sometimes boring, but thats a dang long song.. so whatcha gonna do..
funny bits too a seems to sorta go along with the garage feel..

The end cymbal catch and pop zoom was pretty neat.. I liked it a lot..

This one looks like every other low budget rap video Iv seen. The best looking parts were from the live stage with the lights.. that looked pretty cool to me.

In general:

Lighten up on the color grade effects. I know they look cool but its sorta like reverb in a music mix, if you notice it, its too much!

Also mix some static shots. Try some tighter framing on tripods. Focus was an issue. Try and always NAIL the EYES if eyes are sharp nothing else matters..

yeah, try to hold it still... you don't wanna shake a DSLR...
also, lower the shutter speed to 1/50 and shoot (preferably) in 24 frames per second.

you can make incredible things without a budget... it just takes work, time, and effort.

i noticed in the garage band video you zoomed several times... don't do that.

that's all i can think of... didnt have time to watch all

My opinion - try to learn how to color correct by hand. Anything that can be done with a single click (color correction + saturation + vignette) is ok if you want to show it to your friends and not for demo reel.

Scarlet Foxy - I understand that it was a no budget clip. BUT there are things that could be fixed that will make your shot look better.
For example, 0:57 a bedroom shot: hide the lamp chord (tape it behind the lamp stand). Do color replacement on the walls. Make em different color than the creme/skin, like light blue or something.
0:59 - if you'd move the camera more to the right and lower it a bit - you'll get a v ery good looking rule of third going, which would look really nice. Add color correction to that and you'll get a sick contrast with peoples hair, skin tone and walls.
2:11 - follow rule of thirds for better composition.
Exterior shots were pretty good.
4:00 - do a tighter shots on the ladies. It will loose that awkard door frame on the left and void on the right. If you don't have light kits - don't shoot them infront of the window so it is not blow out.
Banana eating scene - you need to go all out at it man. Its all about sex drugs and rock n roll. Close up on the lips, tongues, sexy eyes and all that stuff. Otherwise its just to chicks eating nanas in the slow motion.

2nd video - I can't watch it. The guy makes me angry..
