Another hack filmmaker doing music videos for his band

Hi all,

I'm back again with another music vid for my band, looking for any feedback. Specifically about stuff I might not be tuned into: color, etc (I'm a musician, and at absolute best, a complete hack filmmaker.) Be kind, I barely know my way around FCPX...

veritcal:

(Vertical is just a cut down version of horizontal; hard to maintain the same content, but you gotta have it for the phones I suppose.)

TIA!

The concept is cool and the executions not bad, I think you just need some more shot variety.
The close ups are keeping the same downward-looking angle and that makes it feel less fresh and more stale, if the angle was dead on, it would really feel different than the shot before.

Also if you could get some bokeh, really focus on one figurine in extreme close up, and have the other background ppl a bit blurry (might not be possible with your equipment - would need a long lens with wide aperture) that would add some variety too.

The other thing I'd say is that it needs a bit of pizazz - music videos typically have a little extra something something to make them pop out.
I did some searching for lego music video to find an example.

I like how the background changes color in this one, it adds interest and helps bring things alive

Ooh, yeah, good thoughts sfoster! That's a great video for reference too. I'll see if I can incorporate some of these ideas. Probably some of the in-out camera movements and colors I could do in post.

I'm shooting this all on an iPhone, but I do have the 16 w the three lenses; one of them is 5x zoom (whatever that translates to in real lenses IDK) but I bet I can get a couple long shots with some good bokeh.

Thanks for the great advice (and good find on the vid, I should have done that myself lol before I started this whole endeavor)
