A Mic For My Camera ?

Hello everyone :)

I am thinking of buying a microphone for my camera because the one it has is crap...(I could afford up to 200-250 euros)
My camera is a panasonic tm700 which has an 3.5 output...
I was thinking of buying a rode ntg-2.. They says its really good but i have no idea if it would work for my camera.. I don't know much about mics...
So ? :)

Thanks

Output or input?

A camera mounted shotgun isn't going to sound much better, you'll want to pit it on a boompole.

Personally, I can't stand the Rode VideoMic. Rode makes some nice mics, not that one though.

I'm sure an audio guy will give you some more specific advice here soon.

Thanks for answering :) actually i want a Mic which will probably be on a boompole but which will be connected to my camera so that the sound is synchronized... No i wasn't thinking of the rode videomic but about this one http://www.rodemic.com/mics/ntg-2 they say it's awesome...but as i said i don't know anything about mics...

PS what do you mean output input ?

The NTG-2 is a popular mic with the indie crowd. It is also prone to low signal levels. It's a shotgun mic, so will have that very echoey roomy sound when used indoors. The Audio Technica AT897 is about the same (prone to low signal levels) and sounds a little different.

No matter which low impedance mic you get you will need an impedance matching transformer.

You'll also need a shock-mount, a boom-pole and XLR cable.
