I put "not sure".

I know some people that swear that 24fps on video is like some kind of Viagra for them and that it auto-magically gives their video a better look... but it still looks like plain video to me. Maybe I just need glasses.

The best improvement on video (in my opinion) that I have seen, is what people are coming up with by shooting through 35mm SLR still-cameras via the mirror. I don't even know what that trick is called.

i've only ever worked with 30 frames but i have seen 24 and to be honest, i didn't notice a difference, i'll keep an eye out next time though

I see a noticable difference. The first time I saw 24P, I knew something was different. It was the 2002 MTV music awards .. I knew they were live, but the movement characteristics had a film-like quality. I was telling a DP friend of mine, and he remarked that it was a 24P broadcast. There is definitely a difference.

Guys... quick question... Canon XL1's - frame mode... shooting 1/50... (aka 25fps) what do you think? Is it a good idea to go with it or does it offer a whole new problem in post?

In the states the best we can get with the XL1 is 30p, so I wouldn't know what to tell you about the 25p. But I guess it would depend on if you were transferring to film. Most Nonlinear editing systems now have 24 and 25 fps editing modes.

I've seen a few things shot 24p and 30p, and there is a huge difference, and even bigger difference than that of 60i video.

No matter what you choose, it’s all tools of the trade. You choose the tool that is most appropriate for the specific project you’re working on. If all you do is shoot pseudo “films” on video, go for the 24p for many reasons. If you shoot anything else, what you use depends on the venue you expect to have the material viewed on. 24p is not the best if you’re product is intended for online streaming media for instance. Just don’t get stuck in the rut that X is best because nothing will fit every situation.
