archived-videos 1st Music video

Had some pretty cool elements (bit of a 70's look, fx-wise  ) and some not so good elements (mainly the dudes doing their thing in the woods.) Footage wasn't consistent, and seemed a bit piecemeal.

Not bad for your first one. The band like it? :)

Watching the entire video I believe that was a deliberate effect applied in post.

Please tell us some things you learned planning with the artists, shooting it, then putting it together.
And about how long did it take for each part of the process from planning, shooting, to editing?

Like Steve, I'm also interested in the response from the artists Mic Manik & AD Garcia.

Thank you.

The guys loved the video. The process was a collaboration between the group and myself. Well Rayw we had a meeting about a video but it wasn't this one. This video was sort of a spur of the moment thing. They wanted to see what I could come up with off the top of my head and this was it. We spent a couple of hours filming. I later went to a concert they were a part of and filmed them on stage. lol The tv was something really not planned. We saw it on the side of the road and someone made a joke about using it and I told them if they wanted I could do something like I did in the video. I'm new to music videos but I consider it pretty much basic story telling like a short film. The editing process probably took about 10 or so hours. @TheArtist that was a deliberate effect. They liked the video and the want to continue working with me. I would say practice makes perfect, but in film and music I don't think there is such animal. lol Just as long as the client like the product.

I like the creativity you showed in post, and it's great that the band wants to work with you. I don't think you should take that as proof positive that you can just keep winging it, though.

I'll be honest, the video kinda stagnates. No matter how many environments you change, and how many effects and overlays you apply in post, a relatively static image of two dudes rapping just isn't all that interesting.

Preproduction is very important. I really think you'd benefit by spending a much greater time formulating a central concept, and making detailed plans for how to accomplish that.

I hope it doesn't feel like I'm trying to shoot you down. I'm glad you're making videos, and I hope you continue. But if you think about your favorite music videos, I can guarantee that a great deal of planning went into them. :)
