    Hit By Car

I've seen countless tutorials on how to achieve a 'hit by car' effect. And this one seems really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x_yVC9vF5U0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen"...

    Screening out white backgrounds

hey guys, i was wondering how u can screen out (if that's what its called) white backgrounds. i got some cool footage from detonation films that im planning to use, but they come with white backgrounds. simply keying out the color didn't work as well as i thought it wouldve. any thoughts? thanks.

    Multiple Angles one Camera?

i also did a short based on dialogues. i got the actors to do the scene a few times, each with the camera at a diff. angle. then it all depends on the editing. i used fce as well. u can check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQrwVuVSoVQ

    The Cheapest Dolly Ever

I've read that tin foil stuck to the bottom of a tripod can get it moving and sliding with great ease. Have anyone tried it? If it works it'll be such a great dolly replacement!

    Hitting, Slapping, Punching Effects Help

Hi guys, in my new film, there will be scenes where a character slaps someone with the back of his hands. There's also another part with a person throwing someone onto the floor (more like hitting her face, causing her to drop). I haven't experienced with those effects before. But I'm guessing...

    Writing Powerful Dialogues

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that finds this topic interesting. But I would like to ask all you screenwriters for your secret recipe... how do you generate powerful, strong lines that are likely to swim around the viewer's mind constantly even when they finish watching your film? Jeremy

    Feedback on Script about School

Yes it is a low-budget project. And really there's nothing much we need that requires a huge amount of money :P. I'm going to go past the time a little, and since not too much people join the competition, it should be fine. After I finish I'll look at it again to cut out unnecessary stuff...etc...

hi! i'm still in school and the only chance for me to film is for a filmfest every april (school competition). I won best director's award this year (my first time entering). but it's not much of an accomplishment as not much people are interested into filmmaking. most of them do it for fun. i'm...

    Feedback on Script about School

Hi guys, I've started a few pages of a new script. The maximum time for the film competition I'm entering is 20 minutes... and I don't think I can keep it under that. But here is the story: A few months ago, a student, Eileen, disappeared after viewing a confidential document of a teacher. It...

    Too much suicide?

I think to make it less cliche, you should do each suicide very differently. Right now, most suicides are probably: cutting wrist, gas, jumping off a building. Instead of having one character cut himself, and another drown himself, you can probably have one that jumps off the building and...

watch First Short Film: Imaginary Lives

Wow, thanks Lochsley and michael for the great comments. to lochsley: the paul part was filmed for a previous script, and we changed most of it to a new draft, and tried to use it well in this one, so I agree it is a bit crappy. and the hilary clinton thing was unnecessary too. i do realise now...

watch First Short Film: Imaginary Lives

Thanks Ian for the encouraging comments :) jaredp: yes I have filmmaking books back to Ian I'm glad you saw that, I tried, in the suicide scene, to make it look as if the pregnant girl does not seem to care whether she jumps or not. That's also why I added the 'see you tomorrow' before she...

watch First Short Film: Imaginary Lives

Thanks for the comment, yes I've caught a lot of mistakes while editing the film, but wasn't able to fix them due to our tight work schedule and due date. I'll keep in mind the mistakes I made this time, and fix it in my next film. I also noticed how slow paced the film was, and will try speed...
