Thanks, I guess getting it to them immediately isnt a big problem. I might not be my editing equipment for a month or two. I can give them the footage immediately if they want to edit their own.
Also can you put up an ad on craigslist or mandy.com for Editor? Basically saying they can edit it...
I really do wanna shoot them. Maybe even more than they want me to haha.
I guess if I filmed them on the last week of vacation, I could go home and edit.
Has this happened to anyone else here?
Youre on vacation, bring your nice DSLR camera with you. You bump into someone or a group of people that could be amazing to film (artist wants to make a music video with you, or in my case a samurai troupe wants me to film a cinematic sword fight.)
But...
What are the commands right before shooting? And what order?
Quiet on the set.... Roll sound.... Roll camera.... Roll marker (how do you call this one again?) .... Action!
Are those the main ones? Whats the command for clapper?
I dont often demand things, but I demand that you film some BTS footage. That sounds very awesome and I hope to make a medieval film one day too. Im far but goodluck. The midrealm site looks promising!
What are some ways to make industry contacts and financiers? I'm guessing festivals are the biggest way to go? What other ways can you meet people working in the business? (other producers/directors/writers)
Very general I know, but I'd love to hear how you met up with some great partners or...
Thanks! I've bumped into that series a few times. They're completely inspiring.
Aside from my main question I forgot to add: What's the highest you guys have sold yours for and how much do you usually sell your script for?
The question about the big boys is mostly for inspiration and...
I'm curious.. how much do the top guys get paid?
Is there any site that lists some famous scripts and how much they were paid for the rights?
Out of curiousity, I also want to find out roughly how much a screenwriter is paid for: a movie coming to theaters everywhere, high-end indie feature...
Well it would matter because my goal is to be a director, not a writer. Also I could eventually make the same money working in other jobs but thats not going to let me direct a bigger movie. Money is nice but getting to direct something big like youve been verbally promised is better. :tear:
I met another filmmaker a few months ago. He was very cool and we had similar interests with film so we decided to collaborate.
He doesn't like to write and I love it. So he asked me to write this movie and we would both co-direct it. My main passion is directing. It sounded great, so I got to...

That's what I expect most PAs to be like. Future industry professionls who are paying their dues. I saw another thread of these directors who I guess have made it. They laughed at PAs. I was thinking - These people are here too help you, why would you say that? Maybe it's your fault for...
I have to agree ^
Dictator is such a harsh word. I think if "Directing is Dictatorship" was the concept every director and director-in-training went by, we'd be headed in the wrong direction. However, for someone making a thread called "Am I not bossy enough?," that might just be the kick he...
Seriously, some videos on youtube aren't even just encouraging or inspiring! They're so good they make you depressed!
This is the thread for those shorts that inspire you (or depress you in the good way!)

I'm going to be honest. You're worried about your crew being viewed as young inexperienced kids and I find that worry legitimate. Mussonman is definitely right about how young people are viewed in America.
Although I am not young myself, I have to admit I look very young for my age. While some...
Thanks guys I'll get to work on it.
Have they ever rejected a screenplay of yours for copyrights because it didn't fulfill any requirements?
The reason I'm asking about all this is because the studio, which my team and I are relatively new to knowing, expressed interest in letting their boys...
