marketing Best way to get exposure for my film?

I hope the guy who's considering going into debt to go to film school will read this thread. Ever since affordable equipment (cameras, editing software, etc) and the Internet came along, the film business has become fragmented. There's too much content out there. You're a need in a haystack...

film-school To film school or not to film school, that is the question.

Film school is for people who are wealthy, because 'making it' in the film business is a long shot -- Kind of like setting out to become a YouTube star or successful musician or painter. Get a real degree, then work on the film career on the side.

video How to create chapters/ad breaks for Filmhub delivery

As it turns out, this information can be easily added by clicking on your title and then twirling down some fields that allow you to enter time stamps and chapter titles. So easy, yet obscured by Filmhub in their emails to me. Instead, they offered to create chapters/ad breaks for me for $50.00...

Has anyone ever created chapters/ad breaks for Filmhub delivery? How is this done? Is there a software program or can you create a simple text file?

    budget Budgets of reality shows?

    According to this article, it's much less. 100K to 500K per episode. So 8 episodes X 100K = 800K. https://www.southuniversity.edu/news-and-blogs/2016/08/reality-tv-low-cost-programming-that-produces-high-ratings-119585

    budget Budgets of reality shows?

Does anyone know what the budgets are to produce a season of reality shows that you see on TV? A million? 3 million? 5 million? 10 million? Some shows like American Greed have a lot B-roll footage, reenactments, and interviews, while others like Life Below Zero seem more involved as far as...

distribution Completed 15 min short film... now what?

Complain to congress? Unfortunately YouTube is not obligated to be fair to small content providers. They can do what they want unless some lawyers can find some sort of angle in the law. Maybe argue that YouTube has become a monopoly? I don't know. Hopefully BitChute catches on, although they...

distribution Amazon Prime royalty rate now down to just 1 cent per hour!

1 cent per hour is just a sign of the Internet times. Indie movie makers are no more going to go on strike than musicians witholding their music in response to file sharing. Musicians actually have it a lot easier than filmmakers, even thought filmmakers generally pay more to create content...

distribution Completed 15 min short film... now what?

YouTube has also recently tweeked their algorithms to favor big corporate content providers. It was much easier 10 - 20 years ago for a small guy to gain a subscriber base or to have a video go viral.

distribution Completed 15 min short film... now what?

Corridor has 8.25 million subscribers. Telling people that they can achieve that kind of success on YouTube is like telling someone that they can become the next YouTube star. Good luck! I know someone who works on lots of indie films. The people who regularly make indie films and are making...

marketing Dear All! Could you please advise me any source for information about film marketing and advertisement? ( For USA market) Thanks!

Did Filmhub declare bankruptcy yet? Filmhub basically just puts your movie on Amazon and a couple of ghost town sites. So putting it up on Amazon Prime is basically all you need to do. Hopefully they don't eventually purge your title. What rocket science is filmspecific going to teach you...

distribution Amazon Prime royalty rate now down to just 1 cent per hour!

And they are just ignorant. Same thing with some owners of locations. I remember once when I needed a liquor store to rent. One guy firmly wanted $5,000 for use of his store one night. Some people hear the word "movie" and just automatically believe that you've got a multi-million dollar budget...

distribution Completed 15 min short film... now what?

    1) Nobody buys DVD's. Nobody will ever find your website. Nobody will buy mugs or T-shirts either. 2) Just put it on Amazon Prime. Put it on YouTube after Amazon purges your title. All of the other sites are ghost towns. 3) Festivals are great..... for the people who collect entrance fee money.

distribution Amazon Prime royalty rate now down to just 1 cent per hour!

Wooopie! I earned 47 cents in September on Amazon Prime for my short film "Life After Republicans, a Mockumentary". At this rate, I will pay off my $800 production budget in 141 years. Good thing I didn't have to hire a voiceover artist (I did it myself), otherwise it would be about 2 1/2...

Money. But there's a REASON you don't see advertisements for indie films. It's a waste. You'd be lucky to recoup 1 cent for every dollar spent. If you can't get any free mentions on TV, radio, print, and no viral buzz, then you're out of luck just like everyone else who makes indie films.

    news Distribber closed down

I heard from a filmmaker that Distribber is basically closed down (can't log on to the site) and they owe him money. Looks like they are heading into bankruptcy. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2019-10-25/indie-filmmakers-streaming-distribber-trouble...

distribution Amazon Prime royalty rate now down to just 1 cent per hour!

I remember when Amazon was paying 16 cents per hour. For the last year or so they were paying 4 cents. Well now it's down to 1 cent as of Jan 1st! Amazon is just about as much of a drop in the bucket as YouTube. Your content is about worthless...

It shouldn't take a day or even hours because you upload black / blank video and at the lowest quality and small frame size. The audio is all you need as reference to ad your captions.
