    Casting Friends

erg...i feel like casting from a website...nowcasting or LA casting or whatever...is usually more successful than asking your friends, just because they don't usually take it as seriously.

Which Movie Made You Decide To Become A Filmmaker?

these are radically different films, but i had strong emotional responses to both and helped me decide to become a filmmaker... The Shining Chronicles of Narnia haha random i know!!

    TIFF!

Hey did anyone else go to the Toronto International Film Festival out there in Indie Talk land? I went in both 2009 and this past September 2010 and saw quite a few really great films, but my favorite was the Danish film "Applaus" in the 2009 festival. Amazing performance by actress Paprika...

    Aussie Films

i know a very sweet one - great for all ages called "Amy" - it has that actress from the television show "Brothers and Sisters" - Rachel Griffiths. It came out sometime in the late 90s I think - anyways, very sweet story, certainly worth a watch!

We knew the girls were really women in disguise, that they understood love, and even death, and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them. - the virgin suicides

    Paranormal Activity-15 000 to 64 Million

it sure did its job in the creepiness factor and in trying to convince people it was real. that was the scariest part, if you accepted the notion of it being entirely valid. but for some reason i was way more terrified of the fourth kind and the fake footage that put in that film. it really...

haha i guess they're just trying to give other irish/british actors a shot. its pretty good though, very close to the play it was based on by the same name (red roses and petrol).

    The Hangover

hmmm. i hope none of that happens. haha i liked the hangover, but i can hardly imagine a good sequel to it. one thing i especially liked in the hangover (other than their over-the-top ridiculousness) was that when they showed the inevitable vegas montage, it wasn't the typical vegas montage...

Your first attempts at film making

also made the tiniest documentary about surf board shaping while i was living in hawaii. haha it was kinda cool, but like 2 minutes long, so lacking.

Your first attempts at film making

haha oh dear lord. i came up with a bunch of crap in film school that i'd prefer to keep hidden til the end of time. however, i did make a 3 minute short entitled "the theif" - a silent film in the vein of charlie chaplin accompanied by scott joplin's "cakewalk" and i was pretty proud of the end...

    AVATAR -no spoilers (yet)-

saw it in imax 3D and loved it! great CG, epic score, beautiful in general. a bit cheesy dialogue, but loveable characters and more than worth the 2 hours and 40 minutes.

    bill murray

Agreed. i'm sure his early stuff was a little more scripted, but he made it his own nonetheless, and film producers/directors started to realize whatever comes out of his mouth will work just fine. i mean, its billy murray! haha love him. he's incredible, and you're right, he can pull off that...

    Brothers

i saw it last week. thoroughly enjoyed it - great acting, esp by tobey maguire and those adorable little girls. there were parts that the tension was palpable, it was insane. however, wasnt thrilled with the ending and i thought natalie portman couldve been better. i love her usually, she's...
