    editing No-Budget ADR Booth.

That's a really good tip. I am not going to have time to set that up today, as the actor is coming in very soon, but I will definitely play around with that before next weekend and let you know how I get on. I have two more actors after this one. I don't have a spare tv either. I looked up the...

    editing No-Budget ADR Booth.

No, I am recording the actor's voice direct into the Tascam. The laptop is to play the scene and the audio from the day of filming. I didn't have any complaints last weekend with the first actor. I have three more actors to come in and then I am done with that part of the process.

    editing No-Budget ADR Booth.

I thought I would share this picture of my ADR set-up at home. The only money I spent on it was the microphone stand ($30). I'd previously used a broom duct-taped to a cat scratching post. I kid you not! I already had the NTG-2 and the Tascam. Anyway, I wanted to make the point for others here...

    Permits for country roads

For info purposes: I had this response from the Wyoming Film Office for shooting on roads in Wyoming... "State parks require a permit. Here's your point of contact: Windy Kilroy (307) 777-3531 phone 1 windy.kilroy1@wyo.gov If you're shooting roads, you'll want to talk to WYDOT. If it's just...

Shooting inside a car at night

I've seen it done that the character has Christmas type lights decorating the cab of their truck, and then you can use this to explain lighting actors faces with the extra hidden lighting you will use. I have some LED light panels that don't take up a lot of room and can be hidden fairly well.

    Sets and Locations

My first feature relied on people letting us film in a variety of places for free: Two bars. One we filmed on a Saturday morning when it was closed and the owner trained one of my actors to bar tend. The other bar we got on a monday night when they were closed and one of the owners bar-tended...

    Hello From Wyoming, USA.

Tim Cahill is great. :) The film is about a young woman who meets a guy with a dark secret and quickly falls obsessively in-love with him. As quickly as the relationship develops, it just as quickly begins to unravel. There are not many laughs. I can tell you that!

    Hello From Wyoming, USA.

Thanks for the extra welcomes. I'm hoping I can show a finished film to people at Christmas. But that's pushing it. I wouldn't get too excited. It's a pretty rough and ready production. I learned a helluva lot whilst making it though. Next years film? No excuses!

    Hello From Wyoming, USA.

I did that to myself. Shame on me! I have been a supporter of Metrostars/New York Red Bulls for 16 years and just slipped into saying 'soccer'. I didn't impress anyone. Lol. (First team is and will always be, Leicester City FOOTBALL Club!

    Hello From Wyoming, USA.

Hi there. I just want to introduce myself, after lurking for a year and finally getting round to contributing. I am living and making films in Laramie, Wyoming, but am originally from Leicester, England. I moved permanently to the US in 2010. I lived in Virginia for a year and am now set up in...

    EXT hard drive question

Just an observation, but it might be a good idea to put all your film data in more than one place. I back mine up to four locations on four separate drives. Which might be overkill, but I have the space.

    Best place to hire actors/actresses?

When I cast for my next film, I will be advertising at the University where I live. I haven't done this before, but I am assuming that at the very least, the potential applicants should know how to read. Here is an example of a good Facebook group: C.R.E.W. (Colorado Resource for Entertainment...

How exactly do you contact a famous celebrity to put as a cameo in your movie?

I got myself an IMDB Pro account and emailed the agent of an actor I wanted to appear in my film. The agent said that depending on availability and script approval, the actor could be available to me for an appearance fee, travel, accommodation and meal expenses. I couldn't raise the money in...

    Which camcorder to buy?

Cool. I wish I could let you try mine to show you how handy they are. All I can add is that there is a little rubber pad and a screw underneath that comes up through the base to secure the camera really tightly. There are steel bars that can attach to the sides that further help to protect the...

    Which camcorder to buy?

If you are going to use a camera that light, I can recommend: Opteka X-GRIP EX MK III Heavy Duty Steel Action Stabilizing Video Handle It really makes holding the camera easier. Don't look for another handle, only this steel one is going to be good enough. The plastic ones are a waste of time...

    New Computer - Advice Required...

I have seen a massive improvement in editing HD video, by using two SSD's. One for windows and programs and the other just for the HD files. They are expensive, but so good to edit with. Other than that, my specs aren't that high. Windows 7 (64bit), 3.1 Quad, 8gig ram, fairly standard graphics...

film-school Film School vs No Film School

Before I shot my first feature film, I spent 6 months reading many, many articles on the internet. If you are smart, you can work out how to use this information. Read multiple articles about the same subject to help you decide what is best for you. Watch instructional videos. Then make a...

    Car mounts

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190814758437 I bought one of these from this seller. It's a tiny bit awkward to get tight, but it DOES work and I have tested it a lot. It still works. I have a Youtube account of driving videos and this suction cup held the camera on all of them. Mostly I use a...
