Editing and Color Correction machine - buy or build?

Once I had all my components, it took me like 45 minutes to actually get it all together. Which turned into like 4 hours of work due to a bad mobo. So, stay away from Gigabyte. Although, they sent me a brand new one as a replacement instead of repairing mine. 240GB is more than enough for...

    Budget Shotgun

I'm getting ready to take the plunge, and film my first short. I already have the camera(D5100), and I'll be picking up a new tripod(I only have a crappy one for photography). So, that leaves me with audio and lighting to worry about. Right now, I'm tackling the aspect of audio. I was, kind...

Alright let's talk 4k and than some

Go with the t3i and save a little money. The 60d and t3i have the same sensor. For video, they're pretty much neck and neck.

    First Attempt at Syncing

I decided to try and see how syncing the audio was, rather than just chatting about it. I used my D5100 for the video, and a spare camcorder I had to act as a mic, and a monopod as the boom. I know the audio quality isn't great, but I made do with what I had to work with. My bird decided to...

    Audio Noob Questions

I'm trying to get off to a semi-solid start and not cheap out completely. Once I actually come up with a short screenplay, that I feel has potential, I plan on doing some crowdfunding. If it goes better than whatever I set my goal as, I may very well put the extra money towards better sound...

No advice(I've never even made a short), but I sent a little cash your way. Good luck.

    Audio Noob Questions

Fantastic post, that was really informative. I'll definitely check out some videos. I always love learning new stuff, and getting different takes from different people. Thanks a lot for that recommendation, I'll see about ordering it when it comes out on the 1st.

    Audio Noob Questions

I'm trying to grasp everything I need to know about recording audio. I have a grasp on some basics, but I've still got questions. If someone could point me towards a tutorial or something that covers all the basics, that'd be great. I'm going to be using a Nikon D5100. I'm currently...

Awesome tutorial for a noob like me, even though I don't have AE. I can still put the basic principle to use in Premiere Elements.

Is there really a big difference between non-L Canon Lens and an L Canon Lens?

Like he said; build quality and image quality are better. But, it depends on what size lens you're wanting. If you are looking at telephoto, then the L is worth it. If not, then it's not that big of a deal.

movies What's the last film you watched? And rate it!

Dirty Deeds - 3/10 It was supposed to be a comedy, the description made it sound like it'd be funny. I don't know if I produced an audible laugh for more than 2 seconds, though. The plot was good, but it just wasn't funny. On top of it not being funny, the audio sync was so bad. 80% of the...

New Horror Film seeks your help

Please take this, and use this for the cover picture. I took a measley 15 minutes of my time to come up with that idea and throw it together. If you'd like, I can steal somebody's picture of a wasp from a Google image search. If you want me to fix the grammar, please don't hesitate to ask...

    Which Mic?

The Rode Video Mic was the original mic I looked into, but couldn't justify spending that much right now. I'm hoping for a decent(for me) pay check on the 22nd, and I've got something I'm trying to sell that should put $475 in my pocket. After all that, it might be in my budget.

    Which Mic?

I'm really just looking for an improvement over the in camera mic. I'm just doing filmmaking as a hobby. It's not something I'm persuing as a career. I may or may not start making shorts to enter into film festivals.

    Which Mic?

I'm looking to pick up an external mic for my Nikon D5100. I've narrowed it down to the Pro-24CM and the ECZ-990. Both are about the same price $60 and $69. Both have the same review rating. Almost nothing, except their physical aspects sets them apart from what I can see. From what I can...

Hey Everyone - What Do I Do Next?

How would one go about networking to find fellow filmmakers in the area to befriend? Is there a site or anything for that? Of course, a hard work never hurts and can go a long way.
