You're right Sensei... I'm sorry I wasted 2 minutes of your life with that bad intro... It's really hard to conceptualise all these ideas. About an hours worth ready...see the other thread I just posted.

Well maybe my name's mud in this town since I posted that sucky intro a month back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc79eSrvg8s This one is guaranteed to suck less. * From CrackerFunk: An overview of positive technology that can help anyone break out of the illusory scarcity prison we've...

    editing Audio levels

I don't feel so bad then. When I worked with analogue music I could ride the faders and do things intuitively. At this micro-budget level I am mixing digitally with no faders. Thanks to everyone for reminding me to keep it below -2...

    editing Audio levels

I've been using Audacity for a while. The Spitfish, Blockfish suite of freeware plugins are decent compressors and de-essers... Audio mastering is a bitch. Spent 6 hours doing it today and still got it wrong. My problem is I like driving a signal until it clips, even digital. My earlier...

    BEST way to start off?

All the above advice is pretty good: Dude, you're in India. Just walk out the door and look at the street life. Relax and drift, trust your luck til something hits. There's got to be a thousand stories to fire your imagination. Then make sure you have a solid structure by following the...

    A Michael Bay Career Retrospective

I like his films. Armageddon was funny, subtle and made fun of the whole genre. A great ensemble piece. I was thinking about the Transformers sound design today. If someone can get that bombastic fun angle and combine it with really good scriptwriting and a bit of subtlety.... Fun or depth? ...

    The Revolution... on Digital Video

This may be true. But for most of us, in practice, there's no Digital Vs Film debate. It's shoot on digi or not at all. And they'll continue to. Imagine 2015. All I can say is I love Pansonc DVX's and Canon 5Ds. I've seen some awesome images and I've fallen in love with both cameras. I don't...

archived-videos Another 30 second short. The Shot

You have confidence in your filming but you take criticism well. I reckon that's a good combination. Developing both in 30 seconds is hard, essential but doable. * I'd just go through your script using every screenwriters tool out there: Mamet Acid Bath, Save the Cat, Story story story...

archived-videos Another 30 second short. The Shot

You had a good feel to this. Nice camerawork, good lighting design. Good script, nice actors. Only one thing missing: I thought the story was nothing special. Even in 30 seconds you should have an arc. When she shot him at the end I wasn't shocked, surprised, and I wasn't affected. 1) You...

    Getting out a funk....

I spent a few wasted afternoons lying in bed trying to force myself to edit. I wanted to edit, but I also wanted to lie around cos it was hot and I was tired. Then I had a brainwave: Edit in bed. Genius, right? My advice: Edit in bed. I get what you have all the time. Editing can be boring...

    Public domain usage

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain As far as I know, if a work is definitely in the public domain you can do what you like. Shakespeare's plays, for example, are public domain. Look at what people have done with them. It's the same deal with anything else in the PD, whether it's been...

Looking to put a crew together to take Sundance.

Just out of interest, why do people think they need to live in the same state to collaborate in 2011? Out of these four: Only the last one needs physical face to face cooperation. The rest can be done be email, file transfer and FedEx. I'm just curious. I see the location thing: "I wish I...

why do I like this footage?

The pan at the start is fairly unusual because it curves smoothly left and down. The two shots sit well together because the curve of the road in the 2nd mirrors the curve of the pan in the first.

archived-videos What I did in a former life

I meant the vocal was mixed a bit off, I think it needs to go through an analogue board. The audio mix in general was fine... A dub mix of this song would sound awesome.
