archived-videos Seoul Nights trailer 2. The party starts soon.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I think I will throw in a VO. There's a lot going on that's culture specific that could be explained better.

Can you elaborate on what part was worse? The arrest or the introduction of the actors?

Yeah, not sure about where the cheesiness is coming from - I guess it could be the music. I hope it doesn't turn out that way though, it's based on a true story (maybe 90% accurate). I used a Sony CX160 to film everything.

I have a short, now what do I do with it?

I'm just finishing up my film "Seoul Night." It was fun, stressful and a true learning experience. But now I have this film and besides an few film festivals, I really am not sure what to do with it. The main purpose was to use it as a proof-of-concept for a feature film of the same name that...

archived-videos Made my first music video! What do you guys think?

This the first time I was "hired" as a director to make a video production. A friend of mine wanted to make a MV to go along with his semi-religious rap song. And I said, why not? I'm not into Christian music but I like the guy and I needed the experience. Moreover, he has real talent so I...

I need to make a decision and wonder how you guys think about this.

Hey man, I know what you're going through, I actually live in Korea right now. I have a job, and I use some of my finances to fund my filmmaking. My wife doesn't really care for this. I feel that the film industry is extremely competetive and cut throat. Everyone's in it for themselves...

cinematography Just how important is what camera you use?

As I watched 'Inland Empire' which was filmed entirely in SD, I wondered just how important is the camera(s) that I use for my short films. I have a D90 and a Sony CX150 that I've used extensively. I used to think that better camera = better picture but now I'm not so sure. I recently saw a...

Tips on shooting my first real short.

Well as for ADR, I prefer to not to do it as well. I dunno, you can synch it pretty easy. It's just the emotion or passion -- like your were saying -- doesn't really seem to come through. Sets -- I you don't have cash, just be creative. Just look up what an average presecutor's office looks...

Tips on shooting my first real short.

Well, It depends. It can looked dubbed if your actors say their lines differently or with a different speed. But I would say more than half of the time if you have clearer/better audio on one take, you can synch it up with other. Because it's the same person, it usually won't be too bad, or...

Sending out notices before a casting call.

This is so so true. Pictures are not enough! There are plenty of times where I met the actor/actress that I was casting for a role--and not even recognize them! You will be surprised!

Tips on shooting my first real short.

At some point during the shoot, one or more actors will start to give you suggestions for scenes. Take this in to account, because many times if can help but don't spend too much time doing this. You could end up with the shoot coming to a standstill, which is what happen to me. You should...

Tips on shooting my first real short.

There are plenty of females wanting to have their chance to act, eventually they'll apply. I've been slowly transitioning from goofing off to getting serious with my work. Here's a few things I've learned; Up until now, you've probably made a few vids with your family and friends. With...

archived-videos Seoul Nights - teaser trailer

Thanks, that was just what I was looking for! Looking back at the trailer, I can see what you're talking about. I should have tried to grab people's attention from the beginning. I also dragged out the scenes a little long. Hopefully, I'll be finishing up the shoot in a couple of days and...

archived-videos Action packed Short Film (not for the faint of heart)

I didn't watch the whole thing, but I liked what I saw. My only thing would be the wardrobe. If you could have wore actual uniforms then it would have definitely added to your short film.
