    Symbolism versus realistic scripts,

I agree. I think every good film you can think of includes important symbolism. Besides, straight-on, direct movies are unlikely to be 'discussed and studied' afterwards. Symbolism just keeps the viewers engaged, even during the second viewing.

    My new toy!!

Looks nice! I see dust in a lot of these videos - is it hard to take care of with the EnCinema adapter?

    Jag35ST (Cheap 35mm Adapter)?

Thanks Dreadylocks, I've been YouTubing a lot of demo videos haha. The Jag35 ones seem to appear with grain and dust - I sent an email to EnCinema (the guy's really friendly too) and he told me the benefits of his adapter (though right now, I'm thinking of getting a 7D). Parts of his email: The...

    Blogging your Filmmaking Process

I wanted to see how many of you document your filmmaking process online. I'd say most people probably turn to Twitter because it's less time consuming and quite convenient. I think a blog would be a good way to promote your productions too. Plus, it's always fun to read about other productions...

Staying in contact w/ crew...online forumish type thing?

Actually I think Facebook would be most convenient - everyone checks it. However, if it's Google Wave vs Google Docs, then definitely Wave.

    Making music videos

Thanks for all the tips. I'm planning to get the singer to sing the entire song a few times at different locations, and then film the "story side" clips separately. And Tinalera, I think you should go try make a music video! It would be exciting, haha. A good thing about making MVs is that you...

    Jag35ST (Cheap 35mm Adapter)?

Thanks for the info, guys. I found another cheap adapter (doesn't come with lens). http://www.vid-atlantic.com/EnCinema35.html Because I need international shipment, I'm currently leaning towards the EnCinema adapter - It's $229 including shipping (no used lens) while the Jag35ST is $259...

    Jag35ST (Cheap 35mm Adapter)?

I was doing some research on 35mm lens adapters, and being a student, I'm not entirely willing to pay so much for them. I stumbled upon the Jag35ST and it starts at $199. Is there a reason for this cheap price? What are the disadvantages? Thanks, Jeremy

Should I quit my day job in the hope of becoming a filmmaker?!

I don't think it's impossible for you to pursue a film-related career, and you're definitely doing it right by reading books and self-learning about the art of filmmaking. I'm 15 and I first realized that film is what interests me three years ago. Even though I call film my most interested...

    Making music videos

I'm planning to film a music video sometime this year, but I have never done it before. What are some things I must know? Also, I always thought it would be hard getting the singer's voice matching up to the music. But this should be avoidable (by having the singer sing to the original song...

    YouTube Rental?

You should probably work on creating an online rep and then upload some content to prove that your work is worth the money. Besides, it's hard enough getting viewers through free videos, imagine trying to bait them with a price attached.

    Student psychological short film screenplay

Hello! I spent three days writing a 15-page short film script and was wondering if I could get some criticism, comments, ideas, feedback...etc. before I write a second draft. This was written with the intent to film it - with some friends - with zero-budget. Here's the link...

IS THIS A GOOD IDEA OR AM I CRAZY

I don't think it's a bad idea but it definitely doesn't sound completely new or original. But I think if you manage to find a certain touch for it that would make it stand out on its own, then it's certainly something worth writing.

Staying in contact w/ crew...online forumish type thing?

If you know people with it, get invited to Google Wave. Or you can make a basic forum for free with here. Both are great ways of communicating to a group of people and of course, getting feedback.

    Any Ideas?

Quite alright, you don't have to consider my advice. I'm actually only 2 years older than you, so I'm still young and don't know anything! Having good "grammer" doesn't actually change much. You might want good spelling as well. Hint: it's grammar. You don't need a tagline if you don't have a...

Can anyone help me out with script writing?

It actually narrows it down to what you can do and what you cannot. This could save some time in choosing locations for particular scenes and give you stricter guidelines. My budget is always zero and my locations are always school, home, park... I'm not even a film student... yet, but it's...
