editing Audio - Cold with Echo? - How To Make Better

This clip was recorded with a Sennheiser ME 66 and a Zoom H4N on location in a room with a laminate floor. While it is clear, there is a problem that I’m not sure how to describe properly. I think it’s cold and has echo? How would I make it better with Final Cut Pro X? Any thoughts or...

    Amazon Subtitles nightmares

Based on your recommendation, I tried Rev.com to get captions for my film Outcall so I could get it onto Amazon Video Direct. Thanks! It was very inexpensive and fast. All I had to do was submit the film to them. Rev.com is one of Amazon's suggested vendors for this type of work. My only note...

    Killed By Klowns

My original intent was to use this scene as an opening to a feature film. But my son who stars in it grew and I never got around to shooting the feature. At least not yet. https://youtu.be/mwjMZxXn03I

editing Ever sumbit to Amazon Video Direct?

My case is a little complex in that I should have waited for Amazon to migrate my existing title from Createspace which was also available as a Amazon VOD only title to Amazon Video Direct. I sent Createspace awhile a DVD awhile ago and from that they pulled off the video. I got an error saying...

editing Ever sumbit to Amazon Video Direct?

My 72 minute movie was close to 95 GB as a Prores 422 HQ. I fiddled with it and got it down to 50 something GB but was not able to successfully upload it. The movie was on a Createspace so Amazon eventually did it for me but I still need to provide the closed captions.

Amazon Video Direct free VS iTunes $1,000

I wouldn't call it a"privilege." iTunes has a business model. Amazon has a different business model. The movies on iTunes must have a certain level of production value while the movies on Amazon can have a much lower one. My perception is that Apple only sells the best in hardware and...

    AIRBNB for locations?

Most Airbnb rentals have "house rules" that make no specific mention to filming. Yes, one particular rental specified a different rate for filming than as a vacation home. For that rental, yes, it would be wrong for me to shoot and not be upfront. I should have been more clear about that. My...

    AIRBNB for locations?

With all due respect and that I've shot three feature films as well as shorts, I don't feel I'm "cheating" them when the number of allowed guests is equal or less than the cast and crew. In addition, I feel I would be less disruptive than someone who was throwing a party with music or having...

    AIRBNB for locations?

I live in Southern California, and many people aren't as receptive to filmmaking as you would imagine for a variety of reasons. None of my friends own a large residence. I'm looking for real world experiences of filmmakers using Airbnb. There's a great listing right now, but they specifically...

    AIRBNB for locations?

My big obstacle is always acquiring locations. Has anyone used Airbnb to find places to shoot? Were you upfront about what you wanted to do? Do the owners come around often when you rent? Could you shoot, and they wouldn't be any wiser if you had a small cast and crew?

Disagreement over actors, experience and paying people

This bothered me. I'm sure you're a nice guy, but extras deserve a certain amount of dignity too and to insinuate they are lesser doesn't sit well with me. It's a thankless low paying task and sometimes getting a free meal is half the reason people agree to be extras. I'm sure you didn't mean it...

    Amazon's New Video Direct Service

No, this is great news. I think but I need to examine it more. If you have an established fan base that will buy directly from you, then you're golden. If you want access to hundreds of millions of potential consumers, Amazon may be the way to go.

Name This Horror Movie - Help!

I saw this movie on either Netflix, Horror Hall, or Watch Movies Free Off my Roku, but can't find it again. It's driving me crazy because I loved it but it didn't have any name actors. Here's a basic description: A woman from South America works in a restaurant in New York (?) to send money...

    Feature vs shorts

This ia an awesome post with a lot of wisdom. But I feel the bigger problem starts at the concept and screenplay stage. The big question is whether you have enough story for a feature. I read so many feature screenplays where I feel you could cut 40% to 50 % and you wouldn't affect the...
