    jumping will is totally right, however i always notice in amateur films that people never spend enough time on the "boring parts" such as sound and creating fully formed characters. Oh and ridiculously long establishing shots seem to be the staple of amateur/indie films. oh way too much...

    definitely invest in the 50mm 1.8 such a good lens for the price, built like an absolute piece of crap but for the price you get amazing quality shots. i've used mine for all sorts of video and photography stuff, and its the sort of lens you just always keep in your kit bag just on the off chance!

    ahh the dr-40 was an option i had considered hadn't realised it had no manual volume, by any chance do you know how the volume works on them? does it just record at line level or is it automatic? there always seems to be a drawback with the cheaper options :(
