    About to Shoot on RED

Thanks guys this will really smooth production up a bit. haha. I just have a question as to why you wouldn't record audio directly into the red. Is there a specific reason as to why you wouldn't?

Hey guys, I'm about to direct a film on RED and I figured since many more of you have had experience with the camera that I'd ask for some advice. Any givers? Thanks in advanced! -T

    Camera to FCP

Hey Guys, I've been having trouble connecting my Canon XHA1s to FCP for Log and capturing. I literally tried every setting there is and wouldn't be asking if I weren't out of ideas. So currently my FCP audio/video settings are: Sequence preset: HDV 1080p25 Capture preset: HDV Device control...

David Mamet's Email to the Unit

the only reason why the whole pulp fiction thing works is because of the camera work that goes along with the dialogue. Also the dialogue is based on funny and interesting things. Not only that the dialogue develops the characters while they move to go somewhere, this way the audience isn't...

    Does this Scene turn?

Well not only acting can express the change from confidence to the lack of confidence. For example maybe when she takes the right turn you can do a dutch tilt as she walks down. Another way may be having steadicam when she is confident and handicam when she isn't. Cinematography can definitely...

    sound shooting sound separate

wait so for ADR, the actor literally has to match his own lips??? How many takes in studio does that take?!! ROC thanks for showing me the clip... enlightening but it doesn't seem so magical anymore! Thought there was a program that distorted the length of the dialogue to match the lips. haha

    sound Boom Op Advice?

Last time I filmed a movie I had inconsistency in the sound from take to take, even though it was at the same location. Some of the sound was echo like and others were very nice. Does this have anything to do with the distance of each actor from the mike? Thanks

    editing Widescreen

Thanks guys! I've set my Signal STD to SD 16:9, but then it's not in HD which is the other option. If I don't use the HD option will it not be in widescreen? Also if I use the SD 16:9 option will it still be in HD (even though it states Standard Def)?

    editing Widescreen

How does one get widescreen using FCP without using the templates that cut portions off the shot? I have a Canon XH1s and I've read that it's a setting on the camera that's later changed in post, but I don't quite get it. So if anyone could do a "shooting in widescreen for dummies" for me...
