    Never Introduced Myself

Greetings. My name (online name) is Blanc/Noir. I'm a midwestern high schooler. As a child my family moved a lot so I guess a developed a large outlook on life. I feel like that helped developed my love for films. Currently the only piece of equipment I have is an awful camera. I'm hoping to go...

Where to get ideas for a film?

I don't know how well I'd work with a team. I'm going to be working on a script with one of my friends. He isn't the smartest guy but he is a good guy. He is one of my main actors and we though we'd do a script together. I don't know how it'll go because in my opinion I don't respect a lot of...

I'm really impressed with your FC. Your camera work is great, your actors are never bad, you got sound and some suspenseful sound tracks. I'm jealous.

Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like "Avatar"?

I think this thread is now leaning towards the question of: What is art? The thread is straying the point a bit. I think we can all agree Avatar is art, but not every piece of art is gold in everyone's eyes. I thought the concept for Avatar was creative. The story may not be amazing but it's...

Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like "Avatar"?

I have to agree to agree with bhikku on most of this. Most anything can be art. In my opinion, if you put emotion into it and try to suceed at what you are doing for a higher purpose and not self indulgence, that is what I would call art. Art is more of a living energy, the output result of art...

Where to get ideas for a film?

Ideas for me seem to come from association. Whether I see a film and think of how it could be better, or there is always what if?'s and such. I just write down a sentence or two that is my idea for the story. My notepad has over 80 at the moment. Some I like, some I love, some I don't think i...

Not quite sure what you the first thing you said meant? Could you go into further explanation? My current location is the Metro Detroit Area.

    Good Places to Rent

Hey I'm starting production on a short soon. Unfortunately I have a halfass homemovie camcorder... I was wondering if anyone knew a place/website/person who can rent me a cheap camera. It doesn't even have to be a great one. Mine was only like 300 bucks because I'm poor for the most part...

REMAKES??? AGAIN? I MEAN, AGAIN, AGAIN?!!

You guys make good points but I don't believe cinema will die as an art form. People will still be making indie flicks. Not to mention maybe the whole CGI/3-D may be a fad. It could change and suddenly people start making smart movies. Just don't be waiting for a day when every movie will be an...

Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like "Avatar"?

I have to agree with you guys. The first time I saw it in IMAX 3-D, I was stunned. I watched it 6 months later on a non-HD-no-3-D TV and I notice all it's flaws. The biggest thing that turned me off was the god awful dialogue, the simple story I guess I could sort of tolerate. In the end it's an...

favorite Top 5 Favorite Directors Of All Time?

    1. Nolan - Tied for favorite director with Scorsese. His mind twist are amazing. 2. Scorsese- The macho man action while still keeping a deep story. 3. Kurosawa- Visual Mastermind. 4. Fincher- Also visual mastermind but on a more stylistic level I guess. 5. Kubrick- The man who could do...

favorite Top 5 Favorite Films of All Time?

I agree a top five is a bit difficult to muster up at the moment. Here 10 that may or may not fit in. 1. Gangs of New Yorks- Beautiful sets and gritty violence and anarchy that fits with the tim period. 2. Road to Perdition- Some of the best cinematography I've ever seen. Good story while not...

    Powerless

This is my second attempt right after Animal Thief. I'm wondering how I did on pacing. Wasn't sure whether I packed to much into a short amount of time. http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0Bx3Mz_Rn1d9jMjQxODhiZjctYTYxNS00N2QwLTg2MTItYzk1ZGMxMTFlZTNk&hl=en

    Why Ebert Hates 3-D

IMO Avatar was more of a visual experience. I do agree a bit with the simplicity of the plot but I still managed to watch it. I feel like 3-d in movies is a distraction from what's actually happening.

    Possible lens extension

Another questions: So if it's X amount of feet away will I be able to get it alligned so that it actually sees only whats through the adapter. Also I heard that it will produce an upside picture. Is there any way to reverse that other than post production.

    Possible lens extension

I was wondering if there was any way to put an extra lens on my Canon FS200 like a fisheye or something. Even if it requires either modding or DIY type of stuff. I was wondering because I want to add on a DOF adapter for my video camera. http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dof/index2.htm There...

archived-videos Short Comedy Film: There Is A Party, Everyone Is There

I loved that film so much I would try to go out with it but end up going to a party instead. Amazing cinematography. Could use some lighting, the dialogue was fantastic. Overall I give you a 9 out of 10 for a film of this caliber.
