    archived-videos Sword Fight Club 2

I cut together a quick blooper reel of a few of the moments that happened while we were shooting. There weren't as many bloopers as the first one because we shot this video in less than half the time that we took to shoot the first one. Nonetheless, here it is...

    Filming in parking garages?

So I finally finished the video that we filmed in the garage. It was pretty funny actually -- around 20 college-aged kids goofing around and being obnoxious, and a security guard drives right by us and doesn't even stop to ask what we're doing :P

    archived-videos Sword Fight Club 2

Hey all! So I got a group of friends together (again) to make a sequel (because why not?). If you haven't seen the first one, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq-o9TKVtRo For the sequel, my aim was to be funnier and faster-paced (the introductions in the first one dragged on, I...

Guerrilla - if Aronofsky can do it...

...but would you make faces and pelvic thrust the camera in the background until their footage became unusable? Or maybe that's just something I would do  Regardless, I'm pretty confident that in a public setting, everyone there more or less gives implied consent to have a public...

Guerrilla - if Aronofsky can do it...

Another idea to consider... If you or someone you're shooting with look young enough, pull the "student" card. "I'm filming something for class" gets you out of at least 50% more sticky situations than "I'm just...uh...filming something. For fun." Also-- --if you live in a lenient city this...

    Best Advice You Have Received?

This one is more directly related to filmmaking: "Remember to take off your lens cap." Pretty important if you ask me...

I'm shooting an intense action scene, looking for inspiration in other films.

It's called cross-cutting, and it can do wonders to add to the intensity. The opera scene in Quantum of Solace is one of my favorite scenes ever :)

    Filming in parking garages?

Hmmm... I'll be honest, I've never understood why a 180-degree shutter supposedly looks "better." In the past, when I've shot people at night and reduced the shutter speed to get more light, the ghosting effects proved to be really distracting. Is there something I'm doing wrong in that...

    Filming in parking garages?

Well this particular garage is owned by a bank and is for its employees on the weekdays, but parking is open to the public at night and on the weekends. I used my web-creeping abilities to track down the company that owns the actual garage (they just lease it out to the bank), which was ABM...

    Filming in parking garages?

http://postimage.org/image/nl3ytbpw3/ Here's a picture of the ramp that I took tonight. It was shot at f/2.0, ISO 800, and shutter speed 1/100th. It's a bit dark, and I may bring a few handheld LED lights, but overall it should do just fine.

    Filming in parking garages?

Thanks for the replies, guys. I ended up calling the company that owns the particular garage that I wanted, and they were (shockingly) easy to work with and said it would be fine. As for the lighting, I'll probably go there tonight or tomorrow night and take a few test photos, but I scouted...

    Filming in parking garages?

Hey all, I'm planning on shooting the sequel to Sword Fight Club ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq-o9TKVtRo ) this coming weekend. We wanted to switch some things up for the next one, including the location, and our best idea so far is to shoot it at night in a parking garage (note that we...

I don't always get on reddit...

...but when I do, I find threads like this: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/13ixog/if_there_is_one_scene_i_never_want_to_see_in_a/ All of these cliches are so true that it's saddening. Any thoughts/reactions, or additions to the list?

Thanks for the comment, Sweetie! In other news, I put together a quick blooper reel for this video. Fair warning, lots of immature humor ahead! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yvoy8YAGZtE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yvoy8YAGZtE

So I got a group of friends together and shot a video this past weekend! Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq-o9TKVtRo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq-o9TKVtRo I realize that the intro is way long, but it all leads up to the fights :) And I was involved in one of the fights, but...
